The concept of a middle age man taking a spirtual leader on a cross country tour is an interesting concept. Unfortuately it requires the author to have unique and interesting insights about America or middle age men that he can impart to the story. Think of someone like Tom Wolfe who has written a number of books that give you a unique perspective about a time and place. This author had nothing interesting to say. The book was a waste of time.

Kinda dull. Not a fast paced murder mystery

The book is sold as an FBI agent and Local Sheriff track down a dangerous serial killer in Sedona. That is not accurate. The bulk of the book is a romance between the two lead investigators with the serial killer a sideline.

They befriend several people along the way and are among the first to settle in the Willamette Valley.

It was a very boring and unrealistic story. There was very little plot development and the story is simplistic. Don't buy it.

OK book but not a historical novel.

It was OK for driving to and from work. The story and characters were very simplistic and did not provide any historical insight into the events of the Spanish American War or the Boxer Rebellion.
