Even in 2024, still 100% applicable, because the advice is timeless. Highly recommend. Will be listening to this one again.

Historia
When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved—plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a teenager with an all-consuming crush on her costar, Harrison Ford.

Intergalactic authenticity
Revisado: 03-22-19
Hilarious, deep, sweet, and touching all at once. Carrie being exquisitely vulnerable and frank about her memories of being Leia. I never knew she was such a great writer! I have a new admiration for the mind between the famous hair buns.

Historia
Spiritual bypassing—the use of spiritual beliefs to avoid dealing with painful feelings, unresolved wounds, and developmental needs—is so pervasive that it goes largely unnoticed. The spiritual ideals of any tradition, whether Christian commandments or Buddhist precepts, can provide easy justification for practitioners to duck uncomfortable feelings in favor of more seemingly enlightened activity. When split off from fundamental psychological needs, such actions often do much more harm than good.

Worth reading more than once
Revisado: 08-06-18
Deep, insightful, and richly complex. A must-have for anyone on a spiritual quest and feeling either incomplete still or having difficulty integrating their spirituality with the reality of life. I listened to it all the way through and plan to do it again AND buy the print edition. This is a work to be not only intuitively absorbed but also intellectually studied.

Historia
Put a stop to self-sabotage and overcome your fears so that you can gain the confidence you need to reach your goals and become your own best friend. Too many people seem to believe that they are not allowed to put themselves first or go after their own dreams out of fear of being selfish or sacrificing others' needs. The Self-Love Experiment rectifies this problem. Whether you want to achieve weight loss, land your dream job, find your soul mate, or get out of debt, it all comes back to self-love and accepting yourself first.

Don’t pass this one up
Revisado: 08-02-18
When I first started listening, I was very skeptical and kept thinking, ok when is she going to get to the 15 points already? But, like her experience, the book is a process unfolding. It’s a wonderful journey to listen to and her voice is so full of heart, you can’t help but get swept up into the experiment yourself. It’s full of fresh insights, and not just another self-help book. She invites you on the journey that maybe you didn’t even know you needed to take :)

A more balanced look on how to eat
Revisado: 07-21-18
A wonderful look at how to incorporate healthy fat into a whole food based diet. Really, the war should be on refined, processed fake food rather than on grass-fed organic butter, coconut oil, olive oils and nuts...

Historia
The power of mantras comes not from the meaning of the symbols, but from their direct vibrational effect on our body's physiological and energetic systems. Ashley-Farrand also teaches that Sanskrit is an energy-based language and mantras are spiritual formulas for working with this energy. They are desgined to eliminate obstacles as we progress spiritually, and help us to make energetic progress toward good.

Best comprehensive introduction to mantras
Revisado: 01-11-18
As someone who only knew “Om mani padme hum” going in, this audiobook is a treasure trove of mantras (mostly Sanskrit but also from Tibetan Buddhism), with explanations, meanings, and most importantly pronunciations and actual chanting. It is easy to feel the different energies from various complex mantras when the author chants them. The accompanying PDF is a must-have for the serious student of mantra (I found it on Google)
