It’s hard for me to write this review without seeming overly critical. The story lacks imagination and the characters are difficult to sympathize with. The main character is dying from a sickness caused by aliens. The author would have done better to just kill him off in the first chapter than to put his readers through hour upon hour of his ridiculous complaining. I guess if you were a 13 yo you might identify with him. It lacks any real science so hard to call sci-fi.

Overall liked the book
Revisado: 02-01-25
Overall liked the book and feel like a lot of the criticism that I read in the reviews is inaccurate or just plain false. Someone said it was romance novelish . What were we reading the same book? There’s a couple romances in the book but they barely consume any of the story and I’m very negative on romance in sci-fi and have quit many books if they get too mushy. The narration is excellent so I guess that’s just a matter of taste. The ending is ok, not earth shattering but it ends fine, not like so many books I’ve read or listened to. You know the ones where you get done and you are like oh so instead of finishing the story you are going to make me buy your next book?! The story is good, characters are good ending is good. I was hoping he had written another, but no such luck.

Historia
Neal Asher takes on first contact, Polity style. This original novel recounts the first contact between the aggressive Prador aliens, and the Polity Collective as it is forced to retool its society to a war footing. The overwhelming brute force of the Prador dreadnaughts causes several worlds and space stations to be overrun. Prador Moon follows the initial Polity defeats, to the first draws, and culminates in what might be the first Polity victory, told from the point of view of two unlikely heroes.

Could someone give the narrator some lessons in checking the pronunciation of difficult words which he clearly doesn’t understand. Sorry it just grates on me every time he says the “O come razor”

Historia
The Martian meets Gravity when Army Pilot Vaughn Singleton, Earth’s last man, rushes to Area 51 in search of a spaceplane after he discovers the last woman is stranded on the International Space Station and barely alive - thus beginning a race against time. The event that wiped life from the planet started at the supercollider. It created a rift in space-time. The astronaut stranded aboard the space station, Commander Angela Brown, is a theoretical physicist who used to work at the collider.

WTF
Revisado: 12-17-24
The story was obviously written by someone who lacks any grasp of anything most would consider reality. There are so many examples that the author lacks any understanding of the subject he is writing about. “He searched the inter-web” Sorry boomer, that’s a made up word to mock people that don’t have a clue. Just FYI the “inter web” isn’t really made of pipes. Unbelievably stupid situations that only happen because the author lacks an imagination. Catastrophe upon catastrophe I assume because the author thinks they have to create them to keep their readers interested? As a rule astronauts are all extremely intelligent and extremely capable and extremely levelheaded, All characteristics that the two astronauts lack in this story. TG , I only wasted $6 on this horribly written fiction.

Historia
Arto has a problem. For one, he's a robot. He’s awoken with no memory of who he is, with nothing but a mysterious letter, in a world bereft of those fleshy, talky things that made him. So why is he alone, and where have all the people gone? He stumbles upon a lost, cheeky kitten and selects it as his best friend for the adventure of a lifetime, trying to make sense of all this existence stuff. Just as Arto begins to fear he's the only sentient thing left on the whole planet, a cantankerous robot falls from the sky. She says she's his sister.

When a mysterious alien probe materializes from Jump Space and remotely reprograms The Bay's star drive, Sam and his crew begin an involuntary voyage that takes them three thousand light years out of known space, across the galactic rift to the Sagittarius Spiral Arm, and into the heart of an ancient, previously unknown civilization - the first encountered by Humans and the other five races of the Cottohazz-Stellar Commonwealth - in over a century. The genetically altered immortals known as the Guardians soon turn murderously violent.
