Historia
Shari Franke’s childhood was a constant battle for survival. Her mother, Ruby Franke, enforced a severe moral code while maintaining a façade of a picture-perfect family for their wildly popular YouTube channel 8 Passengers, which documented the day-to-day life of raising six children for a staggering 2.5 million subscribers. But a darker truth lurked beneath the surface—Ruby’s wholesome online persona masked a more tyrannical parenting style than anyone could have imagined.

Excellent Book
Revisado: 12-08-23
The honesty of Dr.Collin’s struggles to get into Med School and being a med student. The pages of the book come “alive” so in your minds eye you can see him throwing rocks or sitting at the bedside with the pediatric patient, the baby with burns looking up at him during the IV restart.
As a retired nurse I highly recommend this book to anyone considering going into medical school or nursing school. Yes times have changed and the use of “dummies” are used instead of real patients in most cases but hopefully teaching hospitals are still there. Interns and residents are not on call as many hours, hospital nursing schools are a thing of the past but those trained in those days past are still some of the best experiences we had.
Thank you for sharing Dr. Collins

Historia
Hardly anyone is happy with American health care these days. Patients are getting sicker and going bankrupt from medical bills. Doctors are burning out and making dangerous mistakes. Both parties blame our nation’s outdated and dysfunctional health care system. But that’s only part of the problem. In this important and timely book, Dr. Robert Pearl shines a light on the unseen and often toxic culture of medicine.

Enoyable until pushing the Kaiser Permanente model
Revisado: 08-21-23
Enjoyable until the past Kaiser Permanente chief medical officer/CEO, who received millions in salary and great parachute retirement package starting pushing that model for change in our Healthcare in US.
Physicians do not need to be controlled by nor worried about what click in the computer gives the best quality assurance care.
I do not need nor want my physican not able to make his own decisions on my plan of treatment. Each physician should stand on his judgment for providing my care, not some group decision.
Wake up people, our Healthcare is going to become worse than HMOs ever were. The government and big businesses, along with big Pharma, will control everything in healthcare. And this physician, Dr. Pearl has reaped the benefits from Kaiser pay, retirement, etc. he is pushing to take control away from you and your physicians. This is a very wealthy physician pushing this, not your average physician in private practice

Historia
God did not mean for salvation to be a deep, complicated subject that man could not understand. But sometimes man's words confuse God's simple truths. D. L. Moody, one of the 19th century's greatest evangelists, shows how simple salvation is. Avoiding heavy philosophy, he simply shows "the way to God."

As an emergency room doctor working on the rapid evaluation unit, Dr. Thomas Fisher has about three minutes to spend with the patients who come into the South Side of Chicago ward where he works before directing them to the next stage of their care. Bleeding: three minutes. Untreated wound that becomes life-threatening: three minutes. Kidney failure: three minutes. He examines his patients inside and out, touches their bodies, comforts and consoles them, and holds their hands on what is often the worst day of their lives.

Disappointing
Revisado: 09-05-22
I actually couldn't get through chapter 2. As a nurse this book is more about his feelings of social injustice and being a agnostic but enjoys gospel music because of his race.
As a healthcare professional, perhaps the author needs to learn that one doesn't inject their own feelings of race, socioeconomic background of others, nor one's sexual orientation when you are a RN, M. D., PA etc.
He sure missed that class in Nursing 101. I was in nursing school in an inner hospital, during the riots in DC, Baltimore when Martin Luther King was killed. Not one looked at a person's race, socioeconomic background nor sex. Nurses are taught to care about the patient and their disease.
What has happened to healthcare if one looks at patient or themselves as this author does?
No wonder this country is a mess.

Poor Staffing for nurses is Universal. Apparently making a profit for the hospital is more important than proper staffing and staff burnout is not just in the United States.
Wake up the profit of a hospital is not worth staff members mental and physical well being. No wonder there is a shortage in staffing of Healthcare workers - they are burned and stressed out causing mental health issues.

Historia
As a seasoned paramedic and union leader, Anthony Almojera thought he could handle anything his job threw at him. Like many medical first responders, he came from a troubled background and carried the traumas of the city as well as its triumphs. He had grown up in the rough-and-tumble Park Slope of the 1980s, been homeless for a time, and had watched murder, addiction, and hopelessness consume those closest to him. But he had dedicated his life to helping people in need, and while every day was filled with tragedy—stabbings, shootings, accidents, suicides—it also brought moments of uplift.

Not what I expected at all
Revisado: 07-31-22
I did not like all the comments about Trump, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and BLM.
I would ask the author how he feels regarding current events now and BLM organization now and how the donations were handled.
I expected the book to be about COVID-19 during 2020.

Excellent!
Revisado: 07-25-22
I enjoyed every minute of this book. I graduated from a hospital school of Nursing in 1971. Technology has changed the health care field, but not the reason we all went in the Nursing Profession.
I remember how we also, ate our new graduates especially the 2 and 4 year graduates. " What you never put a foley catheter in or ever gave an injection!" "It took 5 student nurses for one 4 year patient! Are you kidding me? We were taking care of patients within a month of entering Nursing school.
Things have changed in 51 years, but never the heart and caring of nurses. You never forget the first code, your case student, the first death nor sitting and rocking the babies whose mother took drugs prior to delivery.
I am proud to be a RN. And my prayers are always for all medical staff;nurses, physicians, OT, PT etc. God Bless Them.
