Historia
Steven Levy's classic book traces the exploits of the computer revolution's original hackers - those brilliant and eccentric nerds from the late 1950s through the early '80s who took risks, bent the rules, and pushed the world in a radical new direction. With updated material from noteworthy hackers such as Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Richard Stallman, and Steve Wozniak, Hackers is a fascinating story that begins in early computer research labs and leads to the first home computers.

Great intro to computer hacking origin
Revisado: 12-01-16
Had I read this book before going to MIT my life would be very different.
The entire story is fascinating and I can see there is still a need for hackers to change the world.

Historia
From the cohost of Fox & Friends, the true story of the anonymous spies who helped win the Revolutionary War. Among the pantheon of heroes of the American Revolution, six names are missing. First and foremost, Robert Townsend, an unassuming and respected businessman from Long Island, who spearheaded the spy ring that covertly brought down the British

Great insight on important events
Revisado: 09-22-15
I had no idea the extent of the effort during the revolutionary war and this book proves I have been more ignorant than I thought. New York seems to be missing in the history books during this period, as most of the battles occurred elsewhere, but its importance in securing victory for the United States is obvious from this account. This book makes me eager to look into this period in a new light.

Historia
Superintelligence asks the questions: What happens when machines surpass humans in general intelligence? Will artificial agents save or destroy us? Nick Bostrom lays the foundation for understanding the future of humanity and intelligent life. The human brain has some capabilities that the brains of other animals lack. It is to these distinctive capabilities that our species owes its dominant position. If machine brains surpassed human brains in general intelligence, then this new superintelligence could become extremely powerful - possibly beyond our control.

Very analytical
Revisado: 09-22-15
This is the type of in depth analysis I like to conduct on various every day topics. But the analysis in such types of hypothetical scenarios takes the analysis to a new level. This book is not for the casual listen, (for if you drift off constantly you will get lost in the details) which makes me appreciate the seriousness with which the author devotes to such a complex issue. I also enjoyed the idea of the indirect normativity. This seems like a solid way for hedging future moral questions by allowing moral models to improve given more information and shared experience over time. I will definitely be looking more into this!

Full of detail but not super novel information
Revisado: 08-12-15
If you follow musk pretty closely already, not much to be gained by listening. Some good background information about his family and upbringing, but generally not much in terms of inspiration, how musk spends his time to be able to operate at a high level, stories of his struggles in detail as to what went on in each transition instead of small anecdotes saying merely that it occurred and Musk was involved (e.g. How Musk was involved in merger of X.com and PayPal and what his thought process was, how he positioned himself to be the largest shareholder, what he concentrated on in college and what activities he participated in, etc.). I'd wait for a biography where musk participates, on the order of how Jobs chose who would write his story.

Some good examples, but leaves me wanting an example of what a flowing conversation with invitation and inspiration would look like, not just the first 3 exchanges, but how real speakers get out of a rut in a conversation and engage with people they meet for the first time, etc.
