Historia
Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

Some great information, some large extrapolations
Revisado: 06-18-22
This book has some of the finest insights into sleep that I have had the pleasure of reading. Unfortunately, the author does tend
to start extrapolating minor points of data until they represent earth changing events like some academic scientists tend to do. Nonetheless this is an excellent compilation of insights and studies informing the reader of the value and ultimately, the power of a good nights rest.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Crazy in a good way
Revisado: 11-24-20
This is a wild ride of a memoir. Author and narrator Matthew McConaughey runs the gamut from wise sage to public menace. He has a fluidity of word and thought that runs just a little below genius and just a little above manic press of thought. It is thoroughly entertaining.

Diary style writing done well?
Revisado: 12-24-19
This book covers the growth of a teenage climber as told by a helicopter dad (no offense to the dad), but thats about it. It was well enough done but there is no interesting secret or revealed knowledge for the time investment.

Interesting and engaging
Revisado: 11-08-19
While the overall concepts put forth in the book are standard heroes journey fantasy tropes the twist that the author puts on them are intriguing and the characters well developed. A definite purchase for those looking for a vigorous Sword fantasy just a step outside the norm

Dated but still great
Revisado: 09-29-19
This is how you write a star wars novel, its not perfect but it has the core elements that endure and endear, unlike the more recent galaxies edge which is self indulgent and lacking in epic heroism.

Nice but Lacking...
Revisado: 09-10-19
Nice, basic storyline. It is well put together but character development is modest and the plot lacks any real suspense. Worth a listen if free through the originals program or if you are into ‘girl power’ stories.

Lackluster and short
Revisado: 05-11-19
Using the standard Sherlock Holmes format Andy Weir writes a couple of short stories with a couple of twists but no real depth. The problem is exacerbated by the narrator who, in an effort to sound sinister, just ends up sounding flat, I am a fan of Mr Weir’s work but maybe he is just better at stories when he has time to develop them more fully. This one is only worth a credit if you’re just too curious to pass it up, like I was.

Historia
If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves - and the world - for the better.

Very Basic Training
Revisado: 11-27-18
Taken from a commencement speech, the author makes rudimentary comparisons between seal life and real life. Unfortunately for his audience, the grade-school writing and amateur narration kill any inspiration like a sniper.
