It has the chance to be good.
However, the old op/MC is a fool about as bad as “let’s go Brandon”.
Make up your mind.
This is not a LitRpg.

It is all gods and terrible minute long introspective for everything.

I think this book is well written and conveys the goal of the writer of having a vet imported into a game. I have listen to many lit RPG books and this series starts strong! I cannot wait to read the rest!

They try to create tension (keyword try)

There is a repetitive nature to many themes and the MC makes many poor decision. For example even after being it has been stated that he would always search for his wife with any chance. He doesn’t. He takes to long deliberating about touching his weapons for the first time, however, cannot be bothered to check a camp for his wife or BF. I couldn’t even finish the book. I have become so infuriated that I cannot create sentences and am not even finishing the book! Something I rarely if ever do.

This is one of the best lit RPG series that I have found on audible. I truly enjoy the character building and reasoning behind action. The author does a great job of having twist and turns that provoke active listing in battles. Plus, the series is not focused on some teenage angst or under developed hormonal male. Overall, I have recommended this series to many friends and that is knowing people judge you based on what books you read. This is truly a great series and I cannot wait for the next book in it!

The author would attempt to build suspense for a simple action over and over. It made the author seem like he was trying to reach a word quota. Furthermore, the build ups added nothing to the story other than frustration for his pandering and beating around the bush. Ohhh wow the main character is worried? How many times should that be stated? Once, twice, or thrice? Well prepare yourself to hear a guy get ready to complete a simple action or fret about some action for over two minutes! I honestly gave up and started skipping forward to get to the actual story.
