Historia
London might as well be a world away from Sandsend, a tiny village on the Yorkshire coast. Gideon Smith dreams of the adventure promised him by the lurid tales of Captain Lucian Trigger, the Hero of the Empire, told in Gideon’s favorite “penny dreadful.” When Gideon’s father is lost at sea in highly mysterious circumstances Gideon is convinced that supernatural forces are at work. Deciding only Captain Lucian Trigger himself can aid him, Gideon sets off for London. On the way he rescues the mysterious mechanical girl Maria from a tumbledown house of shadows and iniquities.

I couldn’t give the previous books less than 5 stars but now some of these sequels deserve a 6 I can’t give them.
The reader quickly becoming my favorite female reader. She is really excellent at all sexes, ages, and accents.

Historia
Antiquarian bookseller Robin Jessop has acquired a strange medieval volume. What appears to be a book is a cleverly disguised safe, in which she finds a single rolled parchment, written in code. For encryption expert David Mallory, the text is impenetrable. Until an invaluable clue opens the door to a conspiracy, stretching back seven centuries. Now Jessop and Mallory find themselves on a desperate hunt that could change history, topple an empire and bury them both alive. Because soon they’re not only the hunters. They’re also the hunted.

Lots of words, very little action
Revisado: 04-05-25
Though the history is interesting, they spend too much time talking about it and not enough time getting in danger and finding the treasure.
Their opponents, though evil, are almost never much of an actual threat
And these two main characters are rather bland as well. Not to entirely likable.
I won’t be reading any more of these.

How to be a terrorist in 10 easy lessons
Revisado: 04-03-25
Only the book isn’t NEAR as exciting as that sounds. In fact, it’s fairly boring.
The main character is a bit of a putz.
It’s a cynical story of a guy with the maturity of a 12 yr old and the language of a sailor. (If you can think of a cuss word, it’s in here.)
As he gets older, he doesn’t get much better. Nor does the story.
The book’s moral? The end justifies the means.

Historia
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Boring as heck
Revisado: 04-02-25
They assembled this absolutely amazing cast for nothing. I’d be listening to the interviews and too often thought, “You know? I really don’t much care what this person has to say.” It was hard to connect using that format.
Great premise. Epic fail.

Really disappointed! The story started out great but after half way, the book got too wordy and somewhat boring. It just became really tedious to finish. I soldiered through but barely.
Loved the narrator though!

Accomplished film and television writer Andrew Fenady has been honored with the Golden Boot Award for his contributions to the Western genre. Also a popular novelist, Fenady shines when telling this story of a cowboy who just doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the world. Raised by Kiowa Indians before being taken in by a wealthy rancher, Shannon has never been able to claim what is rightfully hers.
