Historia
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

My last Reacher purchase
Revisado: 06-30-24
Andrew's Reacher is a very different vision. The plots are slow, predictable and boring. waste of a credit if you are a fan of the original Reacher character.

Historia
In Gerrardsville, Colorado, a woman dies under the wheels of a moving bus. The death is ruled a suicide. But Jack Reacher saw what really happened: A man in a gray hoodie and jeans, moving stealthily, pushed the victim to her demise—before swiftly grabbing the dead woman’s purse and strolling away.

so. boring.
Revisado: 02-15-24
The last couple of books have just been miserable compared to historical Jack reacher standards. Andrew just isn't carrying the torch like his brother. Even Scott bricks performance lacks the same range of characters that he used in the past- almost as if he found the story boring himself.

Historia
The Math Myth expands Hacker's scrutiny of many widely held assumptions, like the notions that mathematics broadens our minds and that the entire Common Core syllabus should be required of every student. He worries that a frenzied emphasis on STEM is diverting attention from other pursuits and subverting the spirit of the country. In fact, Hacker honors mathematics as a calling (he has been a professor of mathematics) and extols its glories and its goals.

Misses the mark
Revisado: 09-10-23
This book came across as a whiny complaining thesis as if written by someone who was simply frustrated by a lack of job opportunities because they didn't understand trigonometry. The lack of any in depth exploration of why some fields *may actually* benefit from knowing and understanding advanced math principles was never offered. I gave up on it at the engineering review.. as an engineer (and now engineering manager) I see the difference between engineers who clearly understand the advanced math behind the very critical principles that we need to apply daily and those that don't. Do we need Calculus regularly? no, of course not - software and design tools make that unnecessary. But the engineer that doesn't understand calculus doesn't understand how those tools work and in turn doesn't understand when the results they are getting don't make sense. they are absolutely worse engineers than the ones that do understand the calculus behind those engineering equations. and I could see this time and time again during the author's assertion that if someone doesn't use it on a daily basis then there is no need for them to learn it at all. what a crock of poo... I pray for my children's future that they don't end up having to fly in a plane designed by someone who has no idea how differential equations support Bernoulli's law.

Narration is like nails on a chalkboard.
Revisado: 08-18-22
I gave the story 3 stars but in truth I couldn't finish it, so I really don't know. Narration is miserable. Ken has 3 voices: whiny man (used for women too), yelling petulant whiny man, and bad Austrian accent (used for all non English characters). uggh.. I have hundreds of audible books and this is one of only a few that I just couldn't stand to listen to. I will not purchase any more audio books narrated by this narrator.

Avoid the politics Connelly...
Revisado: 06-17-22
Ugghh.. I have always liked Connelly's stories. They may rehash similar themes over and over, but they've been enjoyable. Unfortunately, he decided to inject a lot of his personal politics into this story and they haven't aged well. Hopefully this isn't a trend for his future books. and to top it off, the ending was a complete cop-out for a Haller story that left too many threads dangling. rushed and shoddy, in my opinion.

So many errors!
Revisado: 12-05-21
OK story. But it was ruined by the errors, in my mind. Some stuff was so obvious that it blows my mind the narrator or producer didn't pick up on it. "He kept one idea on the screen." what? and then the incessant references to an AK-74. what the heck is that? I don't have a printed copy to compare to, but it strikes me that with the author's background, there is no way that was written that way . yet over and over we hear about the bad guys slinging their AK-74's over their shoulders. takes away from a book that is supposed to be more precise in weapons references.. especially considering how far out of the way the narrator went to pronounce Heckler & "Koch".
