Good but not great
Revisado: 04-01-15
Although the world and dystopian future were unique ideas the story followed the same old formula. Big bad government, kick ass trained teenage girl, wildly unbelievably 17 year old love interest, yada yada yada. The romance was shallow as were the friendships.
Good enough to read if you don't have anything great in your library waiting for you but not good enough that it will go on my recommended reading list.

Good but not great.
Revisado: 03-09-15
I like Sophie Jordan and the concept was unique for these books. However, the story is formulaic and predictable. It was a good story worth listening to, but I won't be re-reading this series.

Easily one of my favorite and the narration is fantastic. Story is incredible characters are incredible. I can't say enough good things. Just recommend you re-listen to the first one as it took me a while to piece everything back together since the last time I read it.

Ruined by the narrator, buy text!
Revisado: 06-21-13
I have followed the Jenna Fox Chronicles since before I bought my kindle. I love this series. I love this story. "The Adoration of Jenna Fox" was incredible and I was so enthralled with the questions the author raised. "What makes me human?" "What makes me real?" "What makes me, me?". Amazing.
I chose to download "Fox Forever" on audiobook. I can't even FORCE myself to finish listening to it because the narration is so bad. The reader's vocal patterns are constant and really odd. It's almost monotone but like if Roger Rabbit was attempting to be monotone.
Buy this for Kindle. The narration is far too distracting and annoying to listen to.

Surprise! You love this!
Revisado: 06-21-13
The Elite continued the amazing story we stared in "The Selection". This is not a typical type of novel for me. I usually like bad ass bitches kicking the heads off of zombies or whacking limbs off of vampires with katanas. This series has a couple of middle age battles in which the main characters lock themselves in hidey holes. Don't even care! Love it anyway.
Something about the world this author created is just plain fascinating. The caste system is unique and interesting (though would will have to admit to yourself eventually that NO ONE under ANY circumstances would ever think that basing profession on economic tier would be effective or efficient). The relationship between America and Maxon is enchanting...I love them both so much!
The flow of the series follows a format much like The Bachelor and I would not be surprised if it is what inspired this story from the author.
There is something building here, under the surface of the Bachelor-esque storyline. Something that will really bring to life the world they live in and the war they are fighting. I am hoping that this series goes much further than just the love stories growing in the first two books.

Can't understand why Amazon reviews so low
Revisado: 06-21-13
I stumbled upon arclight in the audible browse page. Amazon reviews only set it at 3.5 stars and that blew me away!
This is a story about a world lost to darkness. A human colony huddled frightened in the one spot of light left.
It is also a story about empathy. Putting yourself in your enemy's shoes and trying to understand those who are different rather than fear them.
For those of you who like to contemplate what it means to be human, what it means to be "good" or "evil" and what you are willing to sacrifice for safety...give this one a go.

Memorable Characters, familiar plot
Revisado: 06-21-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Definitely. The characters are very strong. This is not one of those stories with characters who just change completely within a couple pages. The author does a good job of gradually and thoughtfully adjusting the cognitive patterns of the characters (especially June) over the course of the book. You aren't finding yourself forced to believe a person can just change the patter of indoctrinated ideology because of a single chance encounter.
What other book might you compare Prodigy to and why?
Prodigy most reminds me of Scott Westerfield's "Uglies" series (based on plot and setting). It is similarly about a strict dystopian society in which one character is from the left side of the tracks and one is from the right side. However, I do feel that Prodigy was executed better. Stronger characters and a deeper, more thoughtful, main theme.
Any additional comments?
SUMMARY: Day and June are great characters with likable (though very different) personalities. You will always be rooting for them both, even when they have different or opposing goals. The author has done a great job creating a world and a city. You will have very distinct memories of this story long after you have finished it.
