Historia
Seventeen-year-old Sarabeth has become increasingly rebellious since her parents found God and moved their family to a remote Arkansas farmstead where she’s forced to wear long dresses, follow strict rules, and grow her hair down to her waist. She’s all but given up on escaping the farm when a masked man appears one stifling summer morning and snatches her out of the cornfield. A week after her abduction, she’s found alongside a highway in a bloodstained dress - alive. Five years later, Sarabeth is struggling to keep her past buried when Investigator Nick Farrow calls.

Enjoyable Listen

Liked the readers voice and the story was interesting enough to hold my attention. I would recommend this book but you will figure out the antagonist long before it’s revealed.

Historia
In the course of her everyday work, career-driven assistant district attorney Nina Frost prosecutes child molesters and works determinedly to ensure that a legal system with too many loopholes keeps these criminals behind bars. But when her own five-year-old son, Nathaniel, is traumatized by a sexual assault, Nina and her husband, Caleb, a quiet and methodical stone mason, are shattered, ripped apart by an enraging sense of helplessness in the face of a futile justice system that Nina knows all too well.

Historia
In late 2003, in his column in Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King called The Memory of Running "the best novel you won't read this year." This glowing endorsement of the audiobook resulted in Ron McLarty receiving a $2 million two-book deal from Viking Penguin. Also, Warner Brothers has shelled out big bucks for the movie rights to The Memory of Running, for which McLarty will write the script.

Characters come to life
Revisado: 01-20-08
I was sorry to see this book come to an end. There were so many side stories that Ron McCarty developed that made this such an enjoyable book. He did a great job of creating characters that came into Smithy's life that I hated to leave them behind as Smithy continued on his journey. I would compare this work to something by Nicholas Spark or even Steinbeck. It makes you realize that everyone has a story that makes them what they are and underneath it all most people are basically kind and caring. I highly recommend this book. If you expect action-packed, suspenseful narrative, this may not be your cup of tea. If, however, you enjoy the psychology of what makes people people through the trials, tribulations, joys and sorrows of everyday life, you'll love this book.
