Historia
The emotional trauma we suffer as children not only shapes our emotional lives as adults but also affects our physical health and overall well-being. Scientists now know on a biochemical level exactly how parents' chronic fights, divorce, death in the family, being bullied or hazed, and growing up with a hypercritical, alcoholic, or mentally ill parent can leave permanent, physical "fingerprints" on our brains.

Historia
Is there a science to love? In this groundbreaking audiobook, psychiatrist and neuroscientist Amir Levine and psychologist Rachel S. F. Heller reveal how an understanding of attachment theory - the most advanced relationship science in existence today - can help us find and sustain love. Attachment theory forms the basis for many best-selling books on the parent/child relationship, but there has yet to be an accessible guide to what this fascinating science has to tell us about adult romantic relationships - until now.

Very biased towards insecure attachment
Revisado: 09-16-17
While the author insists that there is nothing wrong with either avoidant or insecure attachment styles, the book is heavily swayed towards making the avoidant style seem like the 'mean and inconsiderate one.' The book is good, but feels incomplete and definitely very biased towards meeting the needs of insecure attachment styles. The examples showcasing avoidant attachment personality styles are extreme, while examples showcasing the insecure attachment styles are more reasonable and don't seem that needy. I can tell you from personal experience that extreme insecure attachment can lead to dangerous, stalking, abusive behavior and can result in much more dager than an avoidant style ever could. So having some additional information on how insecure attachment can be managed and mitigated would have been helpful. The book does a great job explaining how to view the insecure attachment style a basic psychological need, but does not offer the same level of empathy to the avoidant.

Started using 5 sec. rule to stop snoozing!
Revisado: 06-10-17
Started implementing the 5 second rule before I was even finished the book. Amazing! Might be the most inspirational, yet practical self improvement idea I've ever come across! So incredibly helpful I think it has truly changed my life and will only continue to help me get more and more amazing! Can't thank her enough! :-)
