A seminal work of Spanish mysticism, Teresa of Avila's The Way of Perfection describes the practices and qualities of a prayerful life devoted to Christ. Although it was written over 500 years ago solely for the nuns of her convent, her devotion continues to instruct and inspire believers today.

Historia
When a friend offered author Corin Grillo a session of angel healing, Grillo was doubtful. But she was also a burnt-out psychotherapist, depressed and threatened with foreclosure. Grillo walked out of that initial reading with renewed energy and a rare-to-her sense of calm, peace, and hope. She soon learned that angels were powerful warriors ready and waiting, 24/7, to hear from us. Grillo discovered the ways that indigenous peoples and the faithful of all major world religions have called on benevolent beings, sent from God/Source/Creator, to aid humans.

Not At Our Beck and Call
Revisado: 09-01-24
I am grateful that this audiobook is offered free through the Audible program. If I had used a credit or bought it outright, I would have been angry at myself for having done so.
The author says her life was altered by an initial angel retreat and from there she continued to have encounters with angelic beings.
I don't refute this because I believe I have had them as well. However, I do not believe that I should be deliberately seeking angels out anymore than I should be chasing down the mail man.
To put it plainly, angels are messengers sent not of their own accord but at the will of a Higher Power. The messages they send are from that Higher Power, not self determined ones of their own.
What makes this book even worse is that the author makes it clear that all the angels are accessable to us, even the ones who in Biblical description are of the highest order. To think we have that kind of power to draw down the angels is clearly wishful thinking.
Cherubim and Seraphim are the ones that serve at the throne of God. To put it in simple terms, to think they are at our beck and call would be like thinking I could get the handmaiden of a queen to attend to me.
One of the most famous people who was known to have encounters with angels was Joan of Arc. History bears witness to her amazing accomplishments following these encounters.
However, Joan had no power as to when these encounters occurred and could not summon them by will alone. She did, however display a strong devotion to God throughout her brief life. Her last words were NOT to the angels but to Jesus himself.
I believe that angelic encounters are at the will of the Divine power and that being so, our attention should be on that Power. It is simple really. Nowadays, we use delivery services for groceries and restaurant orders. It's easy enough, order on the app, pay for it, then someone delivers it to us. None of us can contact the delivery person outside of the app and they don't act independently of it.
Same idea is applicable when it comes to angelic encounters. They are sent by the will of the Higher Power and like delivery people or mail carriers, it is what they bring and the One sending it that matters most.
Finally, the answer to our prayers and all incidents where angels are manifested in our lives is by that Divine will. Not the will of the angels or our own.

So Where Is The Rest of It?
Revisado: 07-13-21
The narration was quite excellent but it doesn't really make up for the fact the ending of this story is unresolved.
I have read all three of John Gresham's books featuring Jake Brigance and only "A Time for Mercy" seems to be lacking an ending.
For those who are content to be left wondering, the book is good. For those wanting a solid conclusion will be lefting with just that...wanting.
