Historia
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Squandered potential
Revisado: 12-08-24
Whole not the most awful story, I was constantly wondering when we would get to the good part. It seemed to drag on for so, so long.
Well -
Spoiler Alert.
We don't.
It just ends.
I'm only here to confirm the other reviews were right.
(And the narrator was amazing!)
The book ended and I feel like half the plot was missing something incredible the author forgot to include. I hope the author can take this type of story and add some twists.
Even Eve having a split personality would have been a cheesy, yet less predictable storyline.
ah well.

wow. Just wow!
Revisado: 12-04-24
I had no idea what I was getting into picking up this book. I have been sobbing for the duration.
If you've been impacted by mental illness at all this is a heavy but eye opening listen. I am a survivor of a childhood steeped in similar mania & trauma from my mother. This was both exactly what I've always needed to understand; Both healing and emotionally draining at the same time.
Thank you for articulating your stories so well.

Historia
Some places seem too beautiful to be touched by horror. Summit Lake, nestled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, is that kind of place. But two weeks ago, Becca Eckersley, a first-year law student and daughter of a powerful attorney, was brutally murdered there. Now the town is reeling with grief, and the police are baffled.

I wanted to love it
Revisado: 08-04-24
I preferred "We Begin at the End" better, Although this story had a decent ending, getting thru the last 100 chapters was a bit slow.
1 because every chapter was so short. Whomever decided this book needed so many tiny micro chapters, especially in an audio book, needs a new job.
Patterson did this and it annoying.
2. The twisted end was lackluster. I just was relieved it was over by the end. Doesn't mean it wasn't good, but it wasn't spectacular.

Historia
When Brian Holloway (Jack Quaid, The Boys) was hired by famous horror author Paul Robinette (Titus Welliver, Bosch) to crack an antique safe in his home, he had no idea what he was about to encounter. Opening that safe door unleashed something sinister — something that continues to haunt him. But what exactly? And can whatever slipped through that threshold be stopped?

This is a really facinating new twist from Michael Connelly's normal fiction.

Philippa Langley reveals the findings of a remarkable new research initiative: ‘The Missing Princes Project'. In the summer of 1483, Edward V (aged 12) and his brother Richard Duke of York (aged 9), disappeared from the Tower of London. For over 500 years, history has judged that they were murdered on the orders of their uncle Richard III. Following years of intensive research in UK, American and European archives, astonishing new archival discoveries have been uncovered that change what we know about the fate of the Princes in the Tower.

Can't listen :(
Revisado: 05-13-24
I am very interested in subject, but I am still in chapter 2 and cannot continue.
I don't like leaving negative reviews, but to use this as an audiobook a new narrator is needed. There's a lot if bouncing in the narrative as will making it even harder to follow.
I'm going to have to quit here.

Historia
Beth Montgomery seems to have the perfect life: a beautiful house in the hills above Los Angeles, a handsome, ambitious husband, and plans of starting a family. So it doesn't occur to her to worry when the news breaks of a quadruple homicide across town, a botched drug deal that leaves an undercover officer among the dead. Beth certainly would never think to tie the murders to the sudden reappearance in her life of wild, sexy Cassie Ogilvy, the estranged best friend she hasn't seen since they were college roommates.

Disappointing
Revisado: 05-21-23
EH. This book left me disappointed.
I was into the story until we got to the climax of the story. Then it just kind of fell flat for me.
And the end was disappointing and kinda lame TBH - especially after all the twisting in the earlier part of the book.

Sounds like a cheaply produced bad movie.

Not as good as the 1st collaboration
Revisado: 05-01-22
I enjoyed the 1st Amanda Rigby collaboration. I have read all of Sally Rigby's books so far. This one missed the mark, IMO.
The twist and "who done it" was not even telegraphed anywhere in the story. Usually when the author hits you with the "who done it" you can look back and piece it together. This one was not. It was disjointed and just offputting. Feels too rushed and tidy.
I was expecting a 4th sister that looked like the sisters, but was as yet unknown. That would have made way more sense. This was just not right.

Some lines should never be crossed. Police corruption, an investigation that ends in tragedy and the mystery of a little girl’s silence – three unconnected events that will prove to be linked by one small town. While detective Cormac Reilly faces enemies at work and trouble in his personal life, garda Peter Fisher is relocated out of Galway with the threat of prosecution hanging over his head. But even that is not as terrible as having to work for his overbearing father, the local copper for the pretty seaside town of Roundstone.
