Narrator annoys
Revisado: 03-29-25
This narrator has no idea how to do voices. Susan sounds like Spencer and Spencer sounds like Hawk until Hawk suddenly sounds like a white Georgian farmer. And lord most of the time you're hearing him trying to breathe. Is there a chest of drawers sitting on his chest? Bring back Joe.

Historia
Who hasn’t wondered for a split second what the world would be like if a person who is the object of your affliction ceased to exist? But then you’ve probably never heard of The McMasters Conservatory, dedicated to the consummate execution of the homicidal arts. To gain admission, a student must have an ethical reason for erasing someone who deeply deserves a fate no worse (nor better) than death. The campus of this “Poison Ivy League” college—its location unknown to even those who study there—is where you might find yourself the practice target of a classmate.

Loved it but ...
Revisado: 12-22-24
Fun and satisfying. Maybe a few 100 too many puns but ingenious idea. ... the only problem is that for some reason the American narrator Neil Patrick Harris insists on pronouncing the word "a" as "eh". There's never a reason to pronounce it that way unless you're talking about the letter of the alphabet. "He picked up EH hammer." Does Mr. Harris walk into Starbucks and say "i'll have eh latte with eh little soy milk and in eh grande cup."? No he doesn't. So what's he doing??? Drives you a little crazy.

Burt bites
Revisado: 09-11-24
Too bad Burt Reynolds's didn't think enough of this gig to read the books beforehand. Every sentence was new to him and it showed. "That was when i ran into my old friend Charlie. (stop) (eyes move to the next line) who (trying to figure out where it's going) i hadn't seen (pause) since i was with lance murdoch (stop) (eyes move lto next line) (pause) and his force. ...
painful. Like hearing a first grader learn to read out loud.

Historia
Ever since disgraced associate Orrie Cather’s suicide, armchair detective Nero Wolfe has relished retirement in his Manhattan brownstone on West 35th Street. Two years after Cather’s death, only a visit from Maria Radovich - and the urging of Wolfe’s prize assistant, Archie Goodwin - could draw the eccentric and reclusive genius back into business. Maria’s uncle, New York Symphony Orchestra conductor Milan Stevens, formerly known as Milos Stefanovic, spent his youth alongside Wolfe as a fellow freedom fighter in the mountains of Montenegro.

Dracula
Revisado: 12-28-23
This narrator mangles accents into wreckage. His Spanish accent comes off like Dracula. So Does his irish accent, which sounds like an Irishman who's been to vampire school. Then, explicably, the voice of Cholo, who is from Mexico, sounds like he's from Brooklyn. He sometimes loses concentration and gives Lisa, an American, the Dracula treatment too. Yeesh. Bring back Michael Pritchard.

Revisado: 12-10-23
Love Jeeves books. Love Wodehouse. But would it have killed the narrator to read this one through once before voicing it? He's constantly surprised by sentences that dont stop where he thinks they're going to. Or sentences that do stop before he's ready. He's often got the emphasis in the wrong syll-ABB-ell. It's all chopped up in the wrong places. Great voices tho.

I take it back
Revisado: 06-26-23
I said, before that this was one of the worst narrated books I've ever heard. But now that I've made it to the end I'd like to take that comment back. It is THE worst narration job I've ever heard. the guy never even read the book before he sat down to voice it, every sentence seems to be a surprise to him. Pauses in the wrong places, wrong emphasis constantly. Wrong pronunciations of streets and places. absolutely brutal job. It will ruin the book for you.

Historia
Kelp has a plan, and John Dortmunder knows that means trouble. His friend Kelp is a jinx, and his schemes, no matter how well intentioned, tend to spiral quickly out of control. But this one, Kelp swears, is airtight. He read it in a book.
In county lock-up for a traffic charge, Kelp came across a library of trashy novels by an author named Richard Stark. The hero is a thief named Parker whose plans, unlike Kelp and Dortmunder's, always work out. In one, Parker orchestrates a kidnapping so brilliant that, Kelp thinks, it would have to work in real life.

Killer ending!
Revisado: 03-29-23
This thing is so creative it should get six stars. And the twist at the end --well the whole thing-- is genius. My only complaint is the narrator picks a couple voices that are so grating and shrill i almost couldnt get thru it. He's usually a good narrator but he blew this one.

Historia
Once, the Lamartine Hotel was a quiet refuge for New York’s stuffy fashionable set. But by the 1890s, fashion has moved uptown, and the lobby of the Lamartine has been overtaken by natty young sports, who pass their afternoons with billiards or shows of noisy derring-do. Their preferred damsel is Lila Williams, a delicate young telegraph operator whose shyness so charms them that they resolve to defend her against any ill-behaved characters. They are about to face their fiercest challenger, who rides in the gleaming armor of a millionaire.

This narrator
Revisado: 01-20-23
Wish somebody had told this narrator that the word "a" is not pronounced "eh". It's pronounced "uh". And yet this guy pronounced every one of them like he's reading the first letter in the alphabet: A. "He had A beer and A sandwich and sat on A bench." Lordy.
Sounds like a small annoyance until you get to the 100th one.
