Narrator makes the story
Revisado: 06-27-19
I enjoyed this book very much but my absolute favorite part was the narrator. I felt like I was sitting in a room having a conversation with her. Absolutely loved how she narrated this book!

Historia
Nora and Theresa Flynn are 21 and 17 when they leave their small village in Ireland and journey to America. Nora is the responsible sister; she's shy and serious and engaged to a man she isn't sure that she loves. Theresa is gregarious; she is thrilled by their new life in Boston and besotted with the fashionable dresses and dance halls on Dudley Street. But when Theresa ends up pregnant, Nora is forced to come up with a plan - a decision with repercussions they are both far too young to understand.

Entertaining book

Loved the characters. Great narration. Some questions were left about the motives of the characters at the end of the story, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Predictable ending.

Historia
Five months ago, Valerie Leftman's boyfriend, Nick, opened fire on their school cafeteria. Shot trying to stop him, Valerie inadvertently saved the life of a classmate, but was implicated in the shootings because of the list she helped create. A list of people and things she and Nick hated. The list he used to pick his targets. Now, after a summer of seclusion, Val is forced to confront her guilt as she returns to school to complete her senior year.

An enlightening read for all young adults.
Revisado: 11-09-14
What made the experience of listening to Hate List the most enjoyable?
This book showed me a side of the victims of "school shootings" that I never thought of before. What I learned from this book will really help me, as well as my "young adult" daughters, to understand how their peers think and feel, and how not to judge a person unless you have walked in that person's shoes.
Any additional comments?
I recommend that all high school - college age students read this.

Historia
For 35 girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime: the opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth... to be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels... to live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her, and leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want.

Good book! Narrator not so good!
Revisado: 11-09-14
Would you listen to The Selection again? Why?
The only reason I would not listen to The Selection again is because of the narrator. Her voice is monotone, breathy and lacks the ability to display much emotion.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Again, her voice was monotone, breathy and lacked the ability to display emotion.
Any additional comments?
I am looking forward to reading (not listening to) the last two books of this trilogy

Historia
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Truly understands his characters!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely a must read.
What did you like best about this story?
John Green truly understands what is going on in the mind of a young person who is fighting against a horrific illness or disease. The things that Gus and Hazel said and did would be exactly what I would expect from one of my teen children - should they find themselves in a similar situation. Honest and insightful about the state of mind of Gus and Hazel.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I listen to my books while traveling in the car or going for walks. It was my mission to find a reason to take along drives so that I could listen to this story.
