Historia
Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

watch the movie
Revisado: 10-17-18
the book is quite good, but most people are aware of that by now. the problem I had here was the reader. she completely undermines almost everything the writer worked for in the way she reads.

Historia
Travel writer Lea Sutter finds herself on a small island off the coast of South Carolina, the wrong place at the wrong time. A merciless, unanticipated hurricane cuts a path of destruction and Lea barely escapes with her life. In the storm’s aftermath, she discovers orphaned twin boys and impulsively decides to adopt them. The boys, Samuel and Daniel, seem amiable and immensely grateful; Lea’s family back on Long Island - husband Mark and their two children, Ira and Elena - aren’t quite so pleased.

adult goosebumps
Revisado: 09-04-18
the story is not unlike R.L. Stine's better-known work. This feels like a Goosebumps or Spine Tingler adapted for adults. Like most of Stine's work, the concept is interesting, but the writing leaves a bit to be desired.
The reader doesn't impress, and often mixes up accents. Also, the dude sounds like David Cross.

Historia
Hailed by The New York Times as "a marvel of storytelling", The Things They Carried’s portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground experience of soldiers in the Vietnam War is a landmark in war writing. Now, three-time Emmy Award winner-Bryan Cranston, star of the hit TV series Breaking Bad, delivers an electrifying performance that walks the book’s hallucinatory line between reality and fiction and highlights the emotional power of the spoken word.

this is so often forgotten in the genre of science fiction, but it is, in my opinion, one of the first, and best.

unsettling
Revisado: 02-16-18
This book made my skin crawl! Very gritty, dark, and real. my stomach churned many times throughout the book. the level of accurate detail Alex applies to everything, is so wonderful. she also gets into her characters' heads at a deep psychological level. Imogen reads each character in a way that makes them come to life. story could have been more in depth, and the voices didn't always match with the situation. overall, it was very good, though.
