Historia
After damaging climate change, humanity is divided, torn into the technophobic nature-worshippers on Earth and the banished children of science on the new worlds. Jaruss awakens, drifting 300 light-years from Earth, trapped, memoryless, and alone. Who is he, where does he come from, and what are these recurring nightmares that trouble his sleep? To find out, he must outwit an efficiency-obsessed AI and join the dangerous crew of the stealth ship, Pangolin.

Promising story, rough listen via bad dialogue and narration.
Revisado: 04-03-25
Just a few chapters in and the dialogue is absolutely excruciating to listen to. As soon as I heard “buckets of blood” as a swear phrase, I knew I should probably return it. Seriously, some of the phrases in this book were so bad that I almost wanted to record them as I could not believe they were written. Coupled with the flat narration, it just kept taking me out of the story.
Most of the conversations between characters don’t seem like what real people or real characters would say to each other. I finished the book to see if the story could hold up and while interesting, it just ends for another book on the way.
The one redeeming quality, are the good descriptions of the science tech.
Ouch.

Historia
The elite crew of the pirate ship UNS Flying Dutchman had a simple mission: determining whether the Thuranin are sending another starship to Earth. Along the way, they became sidetracked by securing a future for the UNEF troops on the planet Paradise. When asked whether Earth was now safe, their ancient alien AI responded "Not so much"...now they have to deal with the consequences.

Did not expect to get this hooked in-
Revisado: 10-24-17
It’s the detail in this book and for the series overall that enthralls. When it comes to sci-fi, it takes a lot of minutia to bring the listener into its universe wholly...and does so with comedy and concern for its characters.
Trust the awesomeness that is this series...and please for skippters sake release book 5, I’m dying to know what happens!
