Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

A classic!
Revisado: 11-15-24
Weir outdoes himself with a disaster story with an unlikely hero to save humanity. Including befriending first contact for the human race, Weir weaves a tale of unbelievable proportion yet you become engrossed in the adaptation of the hero to his difficulties. This is a testament to the hero’s bonifides of science. His story is a good mixture of science that is believable yet futuristic along with space travel and first contact. Highly entertaining and a book you will not want to put down until you have finished read the entire thing.

Historia
1803. The Napoleonic Wars. A Royal Navy warship is ordered to pursue an enemy frigate to the icy waters far south in the Indian Ocean. There, it must capture the enemy ship and retrieve a mysterious sea chest, contents unknown, failure not permitted. For the determined young captain and his eager crew, this already dangerous mission turns into a battle with a mysterious vessel that appears not in the sea, but unbelievably, impossibly, in the sky above. But nothing could prepare the crew for what lay beyond the 50th latitude of south.

Not an engaging story
Revisado: 10-19-24
Well written. But, I don’t think the story was a very good one. It was underdeveloped in my opinion. Good idea poorly executed.

Historia
May 1940. With Nazi forces sweeping across France, invasion seems imminent. The English Channel has never felt so narrow. In rural Sussex, war veteran John Cook has been tasked with preparing the resistance effort, should the worst happen. But even as the foreign threat looms, it's rumours of a missing child that are troubling Cook. A 12-year-old girl was evacuated from London and never seen again, and she's just the tip of the iceberg - countless evacuees haven't made it to their host families. As Cook investigates, he uncovers a dark conspiracy that reaches to the highest ranks of society.

A Personal War Story
Revisado: 10-08-24
Excellent story with a hero in the most broad sense of the word. If I were to recommend this book, and I do, I might mention that very little other than time and place, this is a story about a man and right and wrong where wrong is strongly defined. I started reading and thought, I will go back to my other book in fifteen minutes. That was an entire book ago. Highly recommended. The narrator is excellent.

Slow fizzle
Revisado: 04-11-24
This book, I read it in its entirety, is rather weak on the storyline. The premise of saving Jesus is fine, however, the writing and the movement to the end leave you with banal dialogue and a thin slow moving dialogue. Not recommended. I wanted to like the book as I found the idea of saving Jesus rather interesting. But without getting into theology, you simply have a very thin storyline that isn’t that appealing.

Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Robot turned human typical story
Revisado: 03-15-24
The details of a bot who really is a sloth, is interesting. However, the ending is predictable and uninspired. I rated the story a 3 stars due to this predictable ending. Not turned human is an ending that maybe all bots don’t want to be or shouldn’t be human.

The Story Not Told In School
Revisado: 01-05-23
Often given just a footnote in history, the story of the first man in orbit is an astounding telling of the USSR’s attempt to stay ahead in the conquering of space is a compelling one of adventure and all the human stories related to Yuri Gargarin. Highly recommended.
