I love this man!!!
Revisado: 10-20-22
He is wise and wonderful. Something caught my attention when I was browsing the store and I bought this. Later I forgot why I bought it and listening to the introduction, I almost decided not to listen… it’s about WWll which I recently listened to a couple other books taking place around that time… I wasn’t sure I wanted to listen to another one.
Am I glad I did! This is the best book every, with very wise words from an extraordinary man!!! The introduction is important because it tells us who he is.
I highly recommend this book to everyone and anyone!!! Ms Lenny Lunden

Worth the read for the unexpected ending
Revisado: 10-15-22
Great beginning… interesting story except at times it has me wondering, “What’s the point?”
Zusak reveals “the point,” with his unexpected ending… making the whole thing well worth reading/listening!!!
Despite the graphic violence in Zusak’s books his writing is unique and intriguing.

A good read…
Revisado: 10-10-22
I love Zusak’s use of words and imagery and the unique outlook in his story. There were many compelling, moving, and nail bitting parts. And then there were parts that dragged on a bit. Made more difficult to hear because, while he uses inflection a lot… a good bit of Zusak’s narration is a bit monotone… like a metronome… making the parts that lag seem to lag more than they probably do. I HIGHLY recommend his book, The Book Thief. His writing in that book is exquisite and the perspective the book is written from is brilliant. There were very few, if any, parts that lagged.

Excellent Book
Revisado: 02-18-18
Dr George Newbern explains things in easy to understand terms, shares useful tools, and important information. As a licensed counselor for 20+ years I appreciate that Dr Newbern’s work, along with Beck’s helped shape my cognitive-behavioral training which is my primary approach to counseling, as I practice many of the techniques he shares in his book (with some variations of my own, and some of these approaches he shared I stumbled on, on my own. Albeit, with basic cognitive therapy training). It is good to see a Dr. educate the public in understandable terms. This is a useful book for anyone in the helping field and anyone who needs help. In fact, it would be great if it was a required text book for Psychology 202

Historia
Respect, trust, and commitment are the cornerstones of a dedicated relationship between a teacher and a student. For a passionate student yearning to learn and understand the essence of a subject, they must demonstrate these traits before a teacher will take them under their wing. In this case, the teacher was Thomas Troward of Cornwall England and the student was Genevieve Behrend. He imparted his personal insight to the one and only pupil who could perpetuate this knowledge and share it with the world.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Marguerite Gavin?
Almost anyone!
Any additional comments?
I agree with comments about the speed of the narration, initially it was very annoying, however the information is so powerful I gradually got used to the "speed reading." While the information in this book is out there in so man "Law of Attraction" messages, it is great to get reminded again in a unique way. Actually I have listened to this book many, many times and will continue to; while here and there it is a little confusing, for the most part, the way most of the principles are discussed is, although fast, it is straightforward.

Historia
Why is it so hard to make lasting changes in our companies, in our communities, and in our own lives? The primary obstacle is a conflict that's built into our brains, say Chip and Dan Heath, authors of the critically acclaimed best seller Made to Stick. Psychologists have discovered that our minds are ruled by two different systems - the rational mind and the emotional mind - that compete for control. The rational mind wants a great beach body; the emotional mind wants that Oreo cookie.

Any additional comments?
The comments about the narration surprise me; I found it enjoyable to listen to as well as informative. I do prefer to hear most authors narrate for themselves however, yes the narrator's voice is a little "Darth Vadeie" but fun to listen to and I did not notice the issues with the audio others complain about. Maybe I was too absorbed with listening to the information: fascinating and useful.

Historia
Thousands of people have had near-death experiences, but scientists have argued that they are impossible. Dr. Eben Alexander was one of those scientists. Neurosurgeon Alexander knew that NDEs feel real, but are simply fantasies produced by brains under extreme stress. Then, Dr. Alexander’s own brain was attacked by a rare illness. The part of the brain that controls thought and emotion shut down completely. For seven days he lay in a coma. Then Alexander’s eyes popped open. He had come back. Alexander’s recovery is a medical miracle. But the real miracle of his story lies elsewhere.

If you could sum up The Emotionally Abusive Relationship: How to Stop Being Abused and How to Stop Abusing in three words, what would they be?
May have saved my life. I was in despair in my relationship, thanks to this book I came to recognize what was actually going on and my part in it and what I could do to change it. Still don't know if this relationship will work, however it has improved significantly and, I personally, have made significant progress.

Must read for anyone in a conflicted relationship. You can be in an abusive relationship and not realize it, your and/or your partner may operate with a very hurtful attitude, which results in emotional abuse. Her wisdom can be relationship saving and even life saving!
