The best book of the season!

How does one follow up a debut as engrossing and un-put-downable as Erin Morgenstern's 'The Night Circus'?

If you're Erin Morgenstern, one does it by crafting a winding mystery and peppering it with myths and fables, and by breathing so much life into her characters, that certain events will bring the reader to tears.

'The Starless Sea' is so much more than a story; mere words bound in paper. It is the thought of a world made true.

I endorse this novel with great enthusiasm.

Heartbreaking and yet so sweet

I did not expect to be emotionally invested after one chapter.
I did not expect to experience physical distress from actions and events which impacted imaginary people.
I loved every word.

Well told, but now incomplete -Narration lacking

This well informed biography is now incomplete., but covers the story of the Yankees' greatest shortstop quite well right up until it stops.

While told with great love and understanding of the game, the narration is sadly lacking and stilted. The last two hours of the book were particularly excruciating, as the narrator stumbled over multiple player names and manager names, which was remarkably distracting.

Haunting

I first read Bag of Bones as a fresh-faced 20 year old, and at the time, it was a good read and a scary story. Coming back to it nearly two decades later, it's it's still a good read and a scary story but for new reasons. As a married man with a child, this book hits hard in places I didn't have as a young man. And it just keeps on hitting.

While Steve is not a trained actor or voice performer, he is a natural storyteller and the perfect choice for this narration. His love of the story and characters comes out, and his authentic Yankee accent lends itself perfectly to the telling.

This is a terrific tale, and one I'll listen to again.
