Historia
A murder victim dumped at the dead end of a lonely country road, face and hands obliterated by a shotgun blast, is not the way sheriff’s detective Nick Fourcade wants to start his week. His only lead takes him to the family of a hometown hero suddenly gone missing. Marc Mercier left his home for a weekend hunting trip and hasn’t been seen since.

Enjoyable story, very layered with good twists. I loved revisiting Broussard and Fourcade and the other familiar characters. I loved revisiting Tami Hoag’s writing.

Historia
Detective Kara Quinn is back in Los Angeles to testify against a notorious human trafficker, finally moving past the case that upended her life. But when the accused is shot in broad daylight, the chaotic scene of the crime turns up few reliable bystanders. And one witness—a whistleblower who might be the key to everything—has disappeared. After another person close to the case is killed, it’s clear that anyone who knows too much is in danger, and tracking down the witness becomes a matter of life-and-death.

Story and characters. Narration was okay better with some characters than others. Love how Quinn is learning to care.

Historia
Lt. Eve Dallas is just home from a long overdue vacation when she responds to a call of an unattended death. The victim is Martin Greenleaf, retired Internal Affairs Captain. At first glance, the scene appears to be suicide, but the closer Eve examines the body, the more suspicious she becomes. An unlocked open window, a loving wife and family, a too-perfect suicide note—Eve's gut says it's a homicide. After all, Greenleaf put a lot of dirty cops away during his forty-seven years in Internal Affairs. It could very well be payback—and she will not rest until the case is closed.

Great story
Revisado: 01-25-24
This book had heartwarming & fun interactions between several characters: Eve & Roarke, Eve & Summerset, Webster & everyone. Baxter getting saved by the magic lining was very cool. Eve & Roarke’s continuing love story was handled well. The sex/love scenes were well done and there were the right amount of them. I loved Jenkinson being stand up & getting his promotion, loved Peabody’s table story, Eve’s gift, lots of great banter and a good tale. Eve’s gut told her what she needed to know early on but she did her due diligence. Her thorough investigation provided us with many side stories that were often poignant and sometimes uplifting. So Webster was referred to as “detective” a few times. No biggie. Unlike the last book at least there were no glaring baseball reference errors (grrr). I loved this book and St Susan’s narration. I do need to mention that I hate the music they’ve been using in the opening & closing sections of the audiobooks. But I gladly put up with a few seconds of weird music to listen to books in this much loved series.

Historia
For this episode of “We Review the Reviews,” Jen is on Vacation, so it’s just AJ and Tara. Since this is a brand new book, there aren’t as many reviews as with a book that’s a bit older, but we still found some “doozies.” Among those are: Oh too predictable [...]

Missed Jen but this was a fun episode
I don’t get why a podcast review has to have 15 words. I just wanted to give you the 5 stars. Seriously.

Historia
It was a glittering event full of A-listers, hosted by Eliza Lane and Brant Fitzhugh, a celebrity couple who’d conquered both Hollywood and Broadway. And now Eve Dallas has made her entrance—but not as a guest. After raising a toast, Fitzhugh fell to the floor and died, with physical symptoms pointing to cyanide, and the police have crashed the party. From all accounts, he wasn’t the kind of star who made enemies. Everyone loved him—even his ex-wife. And since the champagne cocktail that killed him was originally intended for Eliza, it’s possible she was the real target.

Loved it except
Revisado: 02-11-23
I enjoyed this book enough to be sorry it’s over. I’m used to at least 2 sex scenes so I missed only having the one. I did think I knew who the killer was but I wasn’t sure. As for the performance Eve was great. I thought McNab sounded different but I guess it wasn’t necessarily in a bad one (much less like a valley girl). My biggest complaint was as a baseball fan: Tinker to Evers to Chance is a DOUBLE PLAY combo not a triple play. Eve would know that.
