I struggled REALLY hard with finishing this one. I will say I normally love Mary Balogh and will continue to buy her books, but this was Very Slow and I fell asleep multiple times. I sped up the playback just so I could finish it. If I am thinking "How much longer until this can be over?", then it's a return for me.

Love this series!

Love this series! Someone mentioned this author as one to check out, and I'm so glad I did! I've now finished all three in this series and can't wait for more. It's now on my Must Have list.

My Ears Are Bleeding!!!

The male narrator is Horrible!! The accents are so bad it makes me cringe and flinch every time he talks! I'm gonna have to return this as I can't take any more! I recommend just reading the book instead of putting your ears through the torture of listening to his over-the-top fake southern twang accent!

Painful Narration

I liked the story. I have no complaints about that. I do wish they had kept the same narrator as the earlier books, though. This narrator had me cringing every time I heard the voice of the little boy. I was painful to listen to. It was distracting and really too away from the enjoyment of the audiobook.

Pure Magic

I'll start by saying anything from Ilona Andrews is an auto-buy for me. I know I'll always have a solid story with well-developed characters in anything they write. I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed in any of their books I've read. I will admit to being a little hesitant to buy this book just because Hugh was such a villain in the KD series and I didn't see how I could ever like him enough to read a story about him, but since I always love any book from the authors, I decided to give Hugh a chance. I'm so very glad I did. I came to understand him better, but I REALLY loved the female main character, Elara. She starts out kinda hating Hugh as well, so I enjoyed her a lot! I am now eagerly awaiting the next story in the series and encourage everyone that even if you aren't a Hugh fan, this is so worth the credit and time!

Only Okay

I was a bit disappointed in this one, unfortunately. It felt like the story was rushed and too short, with more sex than story. I enjoyed the narrator, but she can only do so much. I just wish the author had fleshed the story out. Not her best effort, but I'll still listen to the next book since it's longer. I'm hoping that will make a difference.

Weak Imitation

I couldn't even get all the way through. By 80% I was just frustrated and wishing I hadn't spent my credit. It's a weak copy of other urban fantasy series and I'd much rather reread one of those than spend my time dealing with the dumb main character in this. I rarely DNF a book, but if this had been an actual paper book, I'd have thrown it out the window. The main character just does so many stupid things. She's supposed to be an experience mercenary, but there was no evidence of that in most of her actions. Just NO, Save your time and money.

So Very Good

I Love this story. I read it as a girl and fell in love with it then. Listening to it again has just reminded me why I fell in love with it at fourteen. One of my all-time favorites. I laughed and cried and loved right along with Anne. This is a book you can read again and again and enjoy every time.

Feels like only a part of a book

The story has a cliffhanger ending, which I hate and you have to buy the next book to get more of the story. I will not be buying the next book. It most likely ends in another cliffhanger and I'd rather spend my time on a story I actually care about. The female narrator did a great job, but the male narrator made me cringe, he was so bad. He ruins the sections he reads.

Could not finish

It was just so very bad, I could not listen anymore. I almost always finish a book, but I just couldn't force myself to continue. It actually made me cringe. It was not the narrator's fault. She did a fine job. The story was just ridiculous!
