Riveting narration. Intense, emotional story
Revisado: 08-01-17
If you could sum up After the Fire in three words, what would they be?
Intense, hopeful, loving
What did you like best about this story?
I love character driven stories. I love following characters as they struggle through and cope with what life throws at them. I love actually feeling and experiencing the emotions as they do. This book has that in spades. The plot was complex, branching out to involve more than just the relationship between Luke and Jordan, especially in the form of Ash. Indeed Ash and Drew play major roles in this story. I loved the follow through there with storylines from the prequel, A Walk Through Fire. I cared about all of the characters.
Which character – as performed by Kale Williams – was your favorite?
I would say Luke. Kale has such a smooth narrative style, and with Luke it really shines. Kale let Luke's somewhat dormant Georgia accent out here and there when most plausible, especially notalbe were the scenes when Luke was feeling lusty towards Jordan - sexxyyy! Kale is super talented. All of the characters were voiced distinctly and pretty much exactly as I thought in my head when I read the book. No caricatures, and nothing strained or over the top, he puts just the right amount of emphasis on the emotions in any given scene. Kale has become one of my favorite narrators.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I appreciated when Luke got rightfully pissed about Jordan’s drug use but didn’t drop Jordan for it. Rather, they discussed their issues, past and present until their souls were bare. It was great to see Jordan and Luke ultimately finding their own strength by being vulnerable with each other. The trust and love that built as the two gradually let down their guard and shared their burdens was indeed well earned.
Any additional comments?
I can't wait to hear Kale's rendition of the third wonderful book in this series, Embrace the Fire

Wonderful narration of an inspiring story of love
Revisado: 07-27-17
If you could sum up Learning to Love in three words, what would they be?
Moving, inspiring, loving
What was one of the most memorable moments of Learning to Love?
Jonah telling Gideon how he'd always had feelings for him, and what lengths he was ready to go to in order to find him.
Have you listened to any of Derrick McClain’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Sure have. He captures the emotions and personalities of the characters very well. Gideon started out with a chip on his shoulder, which evolved to his vulnerability showing. Jonah was solid and steady, but had his own insecurities. Rabbi Ari Fine and all of the secondary characters were distinctly portrayed. McClain expressed all of the characters very well.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Gideon speaking to Rabbi Fine about himself, and his father
Any additional comments?
Felice Stevens always delivers interesting, authentic, raw characters; puts them through strife, and has them emerging stronger for it. This story also incorporates preconceived ideas about people and religion, and dealing with learning disabilites as a functioning adult. And love, lots of love. ♥

Great period mystery/excellent mix with The Mummy
Revisado: 04-19-17
Would you consider the audio edition of The Curse of the Blue Scarab to be better than the print version?
Not better, but perhaps somewhat easier to engage with do to the dry, slower cadence of the this story. Alexander Masters never fails to be fully engaging, and to completely animate all characters.
What did you like best about this story?
The methodical mind of Armiston, the very slow build of his attraction to Maxwell and how he ended up embracing it fully. I liked how the plot was complex yet very straightforward. Every word exuded atmosphere.
Have you listened to any of Alexander Masters’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've listened to a great many. The man is supremely talented and never fails to voice each character distinctly and unnerringly. He is an absolute joy to listen to - repeatedly.
If you could take any character from The Curse of the Blue Scarab out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Hah!! Hmm, I think I'd take Armiston's manservant, Byrd. He's intriguing in his own right, enjoys good food, plus imagine the gossip he has about the gentry!
Any additional comments?
You can't go wrong with Lanyon or Masters. In combination? The absolute cream of the crop.

Beautiful, in-depth story of discovering love
Revisado: 04-16-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Rescued to be better than the print version?
No, not better, but Charlie David's superb narration took a fantastic story to new heights. Really elevated the enjoyability by giving actual voice to some unforgettable characters.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Ryder. He had been hurt by many people who never should have hurt him. Yet, he was able to open up, be vulnerable, and ended up with wonderful partner in Jason because of his courage.
Have you listened to any of Charlie David’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. Charlie always brings a fresh and captivating presence to the stories he performs. His acting abilities are consummate, his delivery is smooth, nuanced - never over the top.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A phenomenal performance of an impassioned story
Revisado: 04-03-17
Would you consider the audio edition of A Walk Through Fire to be better than the print version?
Not better no, but a gorgeous comeplementary piece to be sure. Kale Williams' brilliant narration is stunning.
What did you like best about this story?
It's character driven and very true to the drama that makes up everyday life. Mr. Williams deftly gives each of the many characters a distinct and fitting voice.
Which scene was your favorite?
Probably when Ash lets down his walls and allows Drew to get truly emotionally close.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The hospital scene - wow.
Anytime Esther is speaking to Ash privately.
Any additional comments?
I read this wonderful, heart-wrenching book before listening to the audio. Kale Williams takes the golden words of Felice Stevens and increases their enjoyment value to the nth degree. Not to be missed.

Simply magnificent story of love and atonement
Revisado: 01-26-17
What did you love best about The Lost Prince?
This book has everything. At its heart is a strong love story between diverse, extremely compelling characters - Sasha and Laurie . There is sort of a role reversal when Laurie takes on the protection of Sasha - he has stalwart intentions but blunders it so badly with such misappropirated aplomb. They both care so fiercely for each other they don't always make the best decisions. I appreciate that the story took some unexpected twists such as Laurie falling into substance abuse issues as a coping mechanism, rather than being honest with Sasha. What Laurie thought were protections led to worse problems. I also like that the story ran the full gamut from happy career, happy home life, to turbulent upheaval, culture shock, emotional betrayal, and the action/adventure climactic scenes. The secondary characters are all clearly presented and very pivotal to the story. Such wonderful escapism for this reader.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Lost Prince?
Hmm, so many. Many of them are reveals, so I can't be specific. I do like how intense both Laurie and Sasha are about their work, and in their feelings for one another. Although Laurie's intensity gets him into trouble at times -to say the least... I did love how when how all seemed hopeless, a figure from the past appeared to lend a very big helping hand. Laurie's sister Clara jad insights and interventions which were marvelous.
Anytime Laurie or Sasha called the other Ves'tacha ♥
What about Rusty Coles’s performance did you like?
Everything! He was able to voice each and every character uniquely and, in my mind, perfectly. Nobody sounded like a cartoon version, or unlike I imagined. It's an understatement to say he heightened the enjoyment of my favorite Harper Fox series. Took that enjoyment to the moon and back is more like it.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Laurie's about to take on the role of his life. But sometimes running away,,, brings your demons closer.

Sublime performance. Gritty, emotional story
Revisado: 01-12-17
Would you consider the audio edition of A Midwinter Prince to be better than the print version?
A well chosen performance artist will enhance a wonderful book every time. That is certainly the case here. Listening to it, I definitely felt as though the characters were actual people putting on a play in my ears. The narrator, Rusty Coles, did a superb and deft job of voicing each character distinctly and putting the perfect emotional inflection in all scenes.
What did you like best about this story?
The beautiful, flowing prose with which Harper Fox weaves her stories. The events in this story are unexpected, difficult to predict - yet surprising in the best way. The two characters of Laurie and Sasha are contradictions, yet are very much the same at heart. They make for convincing couple that I was rooting for all the way. I felt each moment of heartbreak, each triumph, each hug.
Which character – as performed by Rusty Coles – was your favorite?
Laurie. It's his story and he's in every scene. Coles voiced him just as I would have hoped.
If you could take any character from A Midwinter Prince out to dinner, who would it be and why?
It would be the detective from Interpol. He was a real stand up guy to Laurie and Sasha and imagine the stories he could tell. Confident and compassionate = sexy!

An entertaining spin on a favorite tale
Revisado: 01-05-17
What made the experience of listening to Beauty, Inc. the most enjoyable?
Kale Williams' sparkling and entertaining performance. The storyline flows very well too, so the combination makes for an engaging overall experience.
What did you like best about this story?
Tara Lain's modern spin on a beloved, fantastical story is indeed magical. Even though some characters do despicable things to Belle, he remains optimistic and loyal.I liked the low anxiety level. Yes, there were some tense moments, and some people being jerks, but the romance between Belle and Magnus bloomed without major setbacks. This story was mostly about people making positive progess in life. The secondary characters of Leroy and Judy made wonderful friends for Belle.
What does Kale Williams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Wonderfully inventive voices for each and every character. Smooth narrative style. I didn't read the book first, but I felt each voice was a great fit for its represented character.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Don't want to spoiler, so I'll just say near the end, when Belle stopped Magnus from doing something life altering.
Any additional comments?
This story is meant to be a feel good, fun exploration of human nature and love. If you're looking for deep probing of human issues in a serious light, or action/adventure, this book isn't going to do it for you.

Wonderful, nuanced performance Provocative story
Revisado: 01-05-17
What did you love best about The Arrangement?
Getting to know what made Carter and Reed tick, as individuals. Watching them progress in their relationship and in their comfort within their own skins. I really appreciate how Felice Stevens humanizes her characters in a fashion I can relate to. An example would be the sexy steaminess Carter and Reed radiated and craved, while still maintaining a strong check on other areas of their lives. Her inclusion of a child in the story makes the relationship dynamics even more interesting and powerful. Mr. David's spot-on performance is the crowning touch to this highly enjoyable story.
What other book might you compare The Arrangement to and why?
Not sure I like comparing books. The underlying theme is people believing they aren't quite worthy of a committed partner; that their life is too burdensome for someone to share. Then, the right someone comes along to push and challenge them. To truly love them.
What about Charlie David’s performance did you like?
Everything!! I read this book before listening to the audio, and Mr. David, in my mind, presented the voices of Carter and Reed perfectly. This is a very sensual story, and Mr. David has a smooth timbred voice, deep enough to be mesmerizing, but not sound at all "announcer like." He became the characters.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Well, I feel the author already has the perfect one with: "It wasn't supposed to get personal...until it did"
Any additional comments?
The story flowed well, and I felt the actions of the characters were well timed and plausible. The sex scenes are very erotic, they are important in demonstrating the evolution of the relationsip and while hot, are not there simply to titillate. At times I feel the story could have been tighter. Some of Carter's conflicting thoughts were repeated on page potentially more than necessary.

I spent and enthralling several hours caught up in Rowan and Vince's conflicted Newcastle world. This is one of my favorite books by Harper Fox. It's a lovely combination of sensuousness, grit, heartbreak, and determination - full of tense action, and much love. The audio performance by Tim Gilbert is nothing short of brilliant. Gripping, raw, and profoundly nuanced. Tim voiced both Vince and Rowan to perfection. I couldn't have given them better intonations in my head. He takes a gorgeously written story to new heights. It makes for an unforgettable experience -yet one I want to experience all over again.
