Historia
Come inside a jury room as one juror leads a starkly divided room to consensus. Join a young CIA officer as he recruits a reluctant foreign agent. And sit with an accomplished surgeon as he tries, and fails, to convince yet another cancer patient to opt for the less risky course of treatment. In Supercommunicators, Charles Duhigg blends deep research and his trademark storytelling skills to show how we can all learn to identify and leverage the hidden layers that lurk beneath every conversation.

It was an easy read
Revisado: 05-02-24
A good read for a good reminder to always connect with people. Nothing groundbreaking. I would say don’t read if you have read similar books talking about communication and connecting to people

Historia
One of the most revered works in English literature, Great Expectations traces the coming of age of a young orphan, Pip, from a boy of shallow aspirations into a man of maturity. From the chilling opening confrontation with an escaped convict to the grand but eerily disheveled estate of bitter old Miss Havisham, all is not what it seems in Dickens’ dark tale of false illusions and thwarted desire.

Good as expected. Nothing more and nothing less! No wow factor but maybe because I’m used to dicken’s writing.

Can’t complain!
Revisado: 01-13-23
Sheryl doesn’t say anything new or groundbreaking but she does say it with a very practical approach and understanding. She keeps it simple and effective. She shows why we all need to lean in. I have my personal qualms with it but I think overall it’s a solid book that talks about workplace bias. Thanks Sheryl for a solid book!

Historia
The natural limits of the human body make us vulnerable and therefore dependent, throughout our lives, on others. Yet American law and policy disregard these stubborn facts, with statutes and judicial decisions that presume people to be autonomous, defined by their capacity to choose. As legal scholar O. Carter Snead points out, this individualistic ideology captures important truths about human freedom, but it also means that we have no obligations to each other unless we actively, voluntarily embrace them.

Very insightful and learned so much! There is no easy answer for these complex human issues and we will continue to look for the right answer if there is one.

So bland and uninspiring
Revisado: 12-20-22
Okay I’ll be quick.
Pros: it’s an easy listen in terms of vocabulary and figuring out what’s going on in the story.
Cons: I feel like the characters were more like charicatures. Hugo was alright but he seemed honestly too one dimensional. Always the good guy with no fault aside from him being too empathetic which honestly adds to his good guys persona. No depth.
Wallace - hate this character. No redeeming qualities and the character made it sound like he was so attractive and just god send when in reality this character was nothing like that in the real world. Like no. Sorry. Doesn’t work for me.
May- she comes off as dim witted but that’s because she is poorly written. Again one dimensional. No depth to why or what she does. Just cliche motivations.
Nelson- cranky old man that does not come off as genuinely old. Again caricature.
Lastly, it all just seems superficial and I didn’t feel like I walked away with anything important or left me feeling curious.
The narrated was bad too. Bad impersonations. Can’t help but wonder if it was him or the bad writing.
Whatever. That’s it I’m done.
