Historia
From the moment MacKayla Lane arrived in Dublin to hunt her sister’s murderer, she’s had to fight one dangerous battle after the next: to survive, to secure power, to keep her city safe, to protect the people she loves. Now, as High Queen of the Fae, Mac faces her greatest challenge yet: ruling the very race she was born to hunt and kill - a race that wants her dead yesterday, so they can put a pure-blooded Fae queen on the throne. But challenges with her subjects are the least of her concerns when an ancient, deadly foe resurfaces.

Change of narrator
Revisado: 09-11-21
I really wish they’d stop changing the narrators!
The originals are my favorite.
The guy they have for the male voices for this book was a huge letdown. The voice isn’t deep enough for Barron’s or Ryodan. Not enough rattle deep in the chest.
Also, they were both saying Sinsar Dubh differently than all the other narrators. Don’t they listen to previous narrations to get a feel of how the characters speak & pronounce things?!
Outside of that…lol…good ending to the book…but it took about 1/4 of the book for me to understand some of what was going on. Was a bit lost in the beginning.

With the artistry and imagination her fans have come to expect, Hobb builds masterfully on all that has gone before, revealing devastating secrets and shocking conspiracies that cast a dark shadow over the history of Fitz and his world - a shadow that now stretches to darken all future hope.

Terrible Narrator
Revisado: 06-01-17
The voices/accents were terrible. And why did everyone speak in halting sentences? The voices that grated on me the most was the Fool & The Elderlings. The last couple of hours was painful when I had to listen to Reyn speaking. I just hope the last book in the Trilogy is better. Narrators should be made to echo the original reader of a series. Unless of course they did it as badly as this one was done.
The story was good though. I love Robins stories. I am sad that the next book is the last of the Fitz & the Fools story.

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-23-16
Let me start by saying that I love this series.
But this story line was boring! I mean SERIOUSLY! Get out of the bedroom! The storyline finally started getting enjoyable in the LAST few chapters when exciting things started to happen with the vampires & helping the ancients. There needed to be a LOT more of that and about 95% less of the sex.
I read this series to see what's going on in the lives of all the wonderful characters Christine has created. Not for the sex scenes. I skippid over most of the book looking for an actual story. I hope the next book is better. I'll stop reading this series if this is an example of what future books are going to be like. I'd rather wait a little longer for a good story than what this one was.
