Just Okay
Revisado: 02-24-25
I love this author and I instantly buy her books as soon as they’re released. However, this one wasn’t my favorite. It started out really good, but lost steam shortly thereafter.

Historia
Summer and Leo would do anything for each other. Inspired by the way each has had to carve her place in a hostile and unforgiving world, and united by the call of the open road, they travel around sunny California in Summer’s tricked-out Land Cruiser. It’s not a glamorous life, but it gives them the freedom they crave from the painful pasts they’ve left behind. But even free spirits have bills to pay. Luckily, Summer is a skilled pickpocket, a small-time thief, and a con artist—and Leo, determined to pay her own way, has learned a trick or two.

Kept my interest
Revisado: 12-13-24
It kept my interest, but the narrator for Leo was not good. She stretches out her words in a very distracting way. It sounded so bad whenever it switched to her. Luckily, the storyline was interesting enough and the other narrator was really good.

Historia
On an ordinary Monday morning, Ariel Cafferty's phone buzzes with a disturbing text message. Something’s happened. I need to see you. Meet me under the candelabra tree ASAP. The words would be jarring from anyone, but the sender is the only man she ever loved. And it's been several years since she learned he died. Seeing Drew’s name pop up is heart-stopping. Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to. Nobody shows.

Couldn’t stand the voices
Revisado: 11-21-24
Based on the reviews, I expected to love this one. I tried and tried, but couldn’t listen to the narrators any longer. The male is over dramatic and just sounds fake. Kathleen drives me crazy because she pronounces the “h” in “wh” words. I cringe every time. Also, her voice for Buzz was extremely annoying. I’ve added these narrators to my list of ones to pass on.

Pleasantly surprised
Revisado: 10-21-24
I was surprised that I enjoyed this as much as I did. I expected it to be another so-so book, but it held my interest from the beginning to the end. I listened to it in one day while doing housework. I’ll definitely look for more from this author.

Historia
Martha Ratliff conceded long ago that she’d likely spend her life alone. She was fine with it, happy with her solo existence, stimulated by her work as a librarian in Maine. But then she met Alan, a charming and sweet-natured salesman whose job took him on the road for half the year. When he asked her to marry him, she said yes, even though he still felt a little bit like a stranger.

Love Swanson, Strongly Dislike Early
Revisado: 07-01-24
Like others, I find Kathleen Early’s narration very distracting. I almost didn’t buy the book when I saw her name, but I love this series, so I decided to go through with it. My problem isn’t with her sounding robotic, but with how she pronounces the ‘h’ in all ‘wh’ words! It drives me crazy and is so distracting. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book.

Unexpected Twists
Revisado: 04-20-24
Kept me interested and the twists were great. However, it droned on in parts later in the book. I had to turn up the speed to 1.2 and actually skipped a few times, only to find that it was still droning on. Overall, I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my favorite from this excellent author.

Bummer
Revisado: 03-16-24
I love this author, but I couldn’t wait for this one to end. The narration was so over the top, especially the male narrator. The female was very whiny and beyond dumb. I was rolling my eyes throughout. It definitely felt like a YA book.

Daily Deal
Revisado: 03-12-24
I took a chance on this one based on the only review that it had at the time. I didn’t expect it to be as good as that review made it seem, but I was hopeful that it would be a decent listen. First, I completely overlooked the male narrator’s name, or I would’ve skipped this one. I know he’s popular with the YA readers, but I just can’t deal with his over the top performances. Setting that aside, the story takes forever to get going and really isn’t that great. I only paid $3 and it still wasn’t worth it.
