wrong narrator for a Suzanne Wright story

I am guessing that to distinctively perform the male protagonist’s voice, that the narrator tried to pitch low (most phrases strained and jarringly distracting from that character and storyline), and the medium pitched “tween to young teen”-aged sounding female protagonist’s voice, there was no more range out of which to choose some of the other female voices which were either gratingly irritating or sounded like that of toddlers as opposed to twenty somethings and thirty year olds - creepily inappropriate - just ICK! The narrator’s voice would be best suited to performing children voices. The story itself was interesting and a really good one characteristic of Suzanne Wright’s excellent work. I wish the story could be re-recorded with any one of the former Suzanne Wright story excellent voice-actor narrators with amazing “body of work”, age appropriate, accurate word pronounciation, non-irritating, believably rich, male AND female character voices like Jill Redfield (Phoenix and Mercury Packs), Cat Doucette (Dark In You), Justine Eyre (Deep In Your Veins) and most of the character voices of Samantha Cook (Olympus Pride, with the exception of the “Blair” adult voice which gets into that too young sounding “ICK!”-zone so I can never re-listen to Blair’s story in that series of audio books).

Shaya's entitled self-absorbed cruelty

Shaya's entitled self-absorbed cruelty was so disappointing, especially to people who have experienced suffering so much greater than Shaya's, but would have communicated the trust issue and abandonment instead of vindictively inflicting the cruelty she did to Nick. Sure Shaya was acting out the behaviour she learned from her spoiled, self-absorbed, "I am the centre of the universe" cruel mother. It was so disappointing and unforgivable that I could not "root" for Shaya and found the rallying empathy, protectiveness and adoration towards her from her devoted mate and all her old and new pack mates completely undeserving. I expected so much better from the Shaya character, especially when you consider how fabulous all of the other female story leads - Taryn, Jaime, Ally, Ronnie, Harley, Gwen, Frankie, Madison, Riley, Mila, Casey, the big hearted quirky McKenna, etc. - all are. The Shaya character in all of the other stories runs contrary to the self-absorbed entitled cruel behaviour in her own love story. If I could rate her behaviour with stars she would get 0 out of 5 stars in this story. The rest of story without Shaya's cruel entitled behaviour was excellent and would have gotten 5 stars in all categories.

Incessently irritating interactions ruined it

The constant bickering, misunderstandings, miscommunications, lack of communication, emotional games, entitled "flying off the handle" and "wallowing drama queen self-pity” was so irritating that it was exhausting - not enjoyable at all. Characters continually jumping to conclusions without listening to those trying to explain further creating irritating and unnecessary drama or exacerbating old ones.

The stupid overly dramatic games and all the self-righteous "spoiled girl" girly crap and entitlements are so irritating and off-putting; it ruined what had the potential to be a decent story.

Ryan West - amazing vocal actor storyteller!

Ryan West - masterful vocal actor storyteller with sincerely engaging (obviously well thought out and well mapped out) character performances of males and females, breathing life, clear intentions and wants into all of the characters he portrays; if Ryan performed the whole book, I would have given it five Stars in the Performance category. CJ Bloom did not always have enough sincerity in character portrayals (females or males) and I'd fall out of the story distracted by CJ's narration. Sometimes it felt like CJ was focused more on creating the the twang southern Sam voice or a "pouty", "Southern" woman "vixen" voice than feeling and reacting to the story through the lens of how the characters experience the "moment by moment" details Lexi Blake lays out. Storytelling like that is hard, but it really makes the characters and the story come alive when it is done well - hence the Ryan West accolades.

Love these Big Tag, in all his "dear Abbey hilarity" family stories and the relationships developed through spy game adventures.

As usual, Ryan West's narration and nuanced character development "hits it out of the park" !

Yay for Dominic, Mila, Emilia and her twin!
Loved the pack and pride family interactions too - sorry this series has come to an end.

I hope the Suzanne Wright - Jill Redfield storytelling combination continues in some other series.

Loved the Bracken-Madison story. The pack family-friend interactions are so wonderfully written with realism and often hilarity. Suzanne Wright gets it. Love the strength of the male and female characters. Jill Redfield's interpretation and performance of all of the characters and their attitudes are just awesome - that is talent!!!
