Wonderfully captured

As a kid growing up in northern michigan, this book took me right back to my childhood. It perfectly captures the life of a young man spending a summer caught between boy and man, and all the drama, antics, love interests, strife, and joy that can entail. Wonderfully written and beautifully read. Compliments to the author- you hit the mark.

An easy listen

This is an easy listen and a good recount of an A-10 pilot’s time during desert storm. There’s not a lot of fluff, it seems to hit the mark as intended- a wartime journal of someone involved as a pilot during Desert Storm. The writing is OK, but the storytelling is a little underdeveloped and flat. Very matter of factual- if you’re looking for Tom Clancy, this isn’t it. It’s more like a book Tom Clancy might read before writing a better developed story from the perspective of an A-10 pilot during Desert Storm. Nicely composed, not too wordy, and a nice clean adaptation of a war journal. Left me a little flat waiting on some big finale, but as a factual reference, that may have been the point.
