but it definitely is. this information is extremely helpful, important, and under-address in what I have previously read in psychology and biology. Lots of other great info consistent with the earlier Mars Venus books.

Great advice. Wise. Vibrant, concise style. I wish I read it when I was younger.

Very fun to listen to the whole story. Impressed how true to it the movie was. Great reading also.

I did not expect this to be a pleasant book, and it was not. I did however hope that it would be more edifying and was disappointed in that regard. I did find it a realistic and occasionally interesting window into peoples' minds in another time and culture and interesting to see similarities to other Russian literature I like better. For the length of the book though, I was hoping to get more out of it. I decided to finish it anyways and was relieved when it ended. Although I hear great things about the author, I think this will be the of his books I read.

There's a lot of controversy regarding diet and cancer. I don't know the correct answer(s) to that controversy (and came here after reading How to Starve Cancer, which has different dietary recommendations regarding fat) but I think this book does a wonderful job of communicating it's reccomendations, which I think provide tons of good information for cancer treatment and prevention. I really appreciate how clear, accessible and comprehensive it is. I also found the more technical parts still acessible by audio as long as a paused to take notes (which I did extensively and would recommend doing through the book). If this is one of the first books you're reading on cancer or cellular metabolism, some additional background information may be helpful for understanding some of the more technical parts, but the book overall should still be really useful and implementable.

Learning about ADHD has been so comforting and helpful. As a child, I was identified as "gifted" but never diagnosed with ADHD. Accordingly, I was frequently reminded of my gifts and potential, but didn't really understood why I increasingly struggled with a lot of the basics and accomplished so much less than people had hoped I would. This book (and learning about ADHD generally) points out common struggles and stumbling blocks, confirms that they're real patterns, explains their neurological bases, and that they don't stem from lack of caring or trying. People tend to think something like "results = effort x ability" without catching how inefficient people with ADHD are at translating effort into results on tasks and in environments that are poorly suited to them. With a lot of disabilities, the extra effort needed is obvious. With ADHD, it's often not obvious from the outside, and instead construed as failings of effort (which people see as moral failings) rather than ability (which people tend to be more understanding of), and that perception is often internalized by people with ADHD, despite how hard they're trying.

I've definitely done this. I care a lot, and I've felt like I've generally been trying really hard. But while results and "aptitude" are frequently quantified, effort is more subjective. When the results have been disappointing, I've tended to blame myself for not trying harder, because I know I'm smart and what the results were. But I've also always seen things that I was really bad at compared to most people and had a sense that there was something substantially wrong with how aspects of my brain worked. It's been so comforting to realize how many of these are classic ADHD traits, and to have clues of where they come from and how to better improve or compensate for them. It's also been really nice to see how the things I've perceived as deficits are related to things I value and love in myself and others, and to realize that most of my favorite people have probably have a significant amount of ADHD, and that a lot what I love about them and what we struggle with comes from the same traits.

The book is full of useful advice I'm working on internalizing and that I hope will help. Even if it doesn't though, just the "I see you" is well worth the read. My mom recommended this to me after I recommended Scattered to her, and I'd recommend both to anyone who is or loves someone whose life has been deeply impacted by ADHD (whether they know it or not).

This book is the densest I've listened to. It's easy for me, if briefly distracted or interrupted to get lost and pretty essential to rewind. But it's also deeply rewarding and meaningful, and I think listening to Jordan Peterson's lectures and books first made it a lot more accessible I'll probably pick up a cheap paper copy of the book and relisten with it and a highlighter and pencil nearby, ready to pause. I expect it to end up like my copy of Zarathustra. I'm very grateful for the audiobook. The execution was excellent and it probably would have been years before I got through my first read through otherwise.
