Mostly a conversion of the movie. Some modernization in 2020 made it worse. Heller rushed the narration and moments of humor slipt away fast.

Free but unoriginal, over dramatized and boring

The British have already made alot of post apocalyptic TV shows and TV movies. Now you can listen to it instead.
There's nothing new and the focus is pure drama. This is downright tiresome.
There was no hook.
Listeners have been super saturated with these themes, plots, devices, etc.
Now I get it - thats why this is free.

Title is misleading and the course teaches little

Across most of this course, the educator breaks down things in obvious ways. At best. But I didn't hear any advice how to improve or craft sentences. Just alot of dissection. He seems to stop short every time.
Typically he says at the end of a chapter that he'll teach you something in the next. But when you go to the next, it's merely dissecting. You don't actually walk away with how you could write it better or specifically how to craft your own.
If you spend the time, you could still use the information he provides. It will take effort.
And ultimately - are you really being taught how to write a great sentence?

Modern politicization of Holmes

Definitely not a Sherlock Holmes story. It feels like it just bashes everyone.

no realism. Heck the movie was entertaining.
The last 30 minutes was the worst.

The narration kills it

I'm not a big Ngaio Marsh fan. But I think the production quality here kills the enjoyment. The volume levels change and there is background noise, like page flipping or other sounds that distract.
But the absolute worst about it is the pompous feel of the narrator. It absolutely ruins the audiobook. You spend more time focusing on the narrator than on the story.

A solid quality book

I will admit that I am a BIG fan of Les Stroud and his work. He's very authentic and has a right to be proud of that. This is a great book. For any fans like me, you will find alot of the material is covered in Survivorman episodes.
So at first I was upset and mumbling, "There's not much new here." But I stopped myself because this book is so good. Anyone who has not watched alot of Survivorman episodes should find a ton of value here. For for the fans it's a useful, single-source.
Let's face it. Would you rather learn - or be *entertained* by another author who is more of an actor than a survival instructor.
And Les did his own narration - and he did it well.
Did I score it a 5 when maybe it's a 4? Maybe. But it's a solid guide.
I hope Les does more audiobooks. Not just because I'm a fan, but because I have a high-level of confidence in Les because of the quality and approach.

Has an error in production and weak material

One of the chapters at the start is repeated. You don't realize it at first. Most people are turned off by this and say the author is just repeating. You need to get past Chapter 3. There is some useful information in it. But I will agree with most the title is beyond misleading. This book makes it most important point at the beginning and repeats that mantra the rest of the book. It does not give you any particular medical knowledge. So I cannot recommend this book to anyone. I have to question if this was actually a best seller.

Not a strong mystery, not Halloween, what is it

Feels more like a historical fiction. The characters don't act naturally at all. There's history and murder more than mystery. The ending ties the loose ends. But overall it's just meh because there was a great deal of writing that is recipe. It's strongest theme is historical fiction. The performance is very good. But I will warn you they include dog bark sounds repeatedly in the narration. Some people might find it cute but I found it more annoying.
