Historia
Laytham Ballard once protected humanity as part of the Nightwise, a secret order of modern-day mages dedicating to holding hellish supernatural forces at bay, but that was before a string of sadistic ritual murders shook everything he believed in - and sent him down a much darker path. One that has already cost him most of his soul as well as everything he once held dear.

Just incredible story and form, narration.
Revisado: 08-12-22
It is been years since a story drew me in and I became part of it in a way. Growing up with Heinlein, Tolkien, and Clark my bar was pretty high. Rod and Bronson not only deftly cleared the bar but placed it far out of reach so many others.
Rod, thank you!

Cline gets bogged down in miles of rabbit trails and hidey holes of trivia which completely distract from the central story line.

Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Pretty bad, not even up to put Butchers lowest standards. Narration was overdramatized, very high school tryout level, and the writing was just plain awful.

Historia
For two thousand years, cadavers have been involved in science's boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. They've tested France's first guillotines, ridden the NASA Space Shuttle, been crucified in a Parisian laboratory to test the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, and helped solve the mystery of TWA Flight 800. For every new surgical procedure, from heart transplants to gender reassignment surgery, cadavers have been there alongside surgeons, making history in their quiet way.

Dr. Greta Helsing has inherited the family's highly specialized and highly peculiar medical practice. She treats the undead for a host of ills - vocal strain in banshees, arthritis in barrow-wights, and entropy in mummies. It's a quiet, supernatural-adjacent life until a sect of murderous monks emerges, killing human and undead Londoners alike. As terror takes hold of the city, Greta must use her unusual skills to stop the cult if she hopes to save her practice - and her life.

Wonderfully paced and written. Fabulous performance, possibly the best oration I've ever listened to. I'm in the field of medical provision and the concept of a sub culture of "monsters" needing care was totally intriguing.

Think about it - if someone liked you enough to go out with you for a while and continue a relationship for more than a few dates, there was something there. There can be a variety of different reasons why he or she broke the relationship. In most cases, one person is moving along too quickly for the other person. In other words, you are not both on the same track.

Who buys a book to learn how to survive a breakup before it occurs?
The clipped dispassionate delivery doesn't do much to warm up the material., it felt like an audio episode of Downton Abbey.
There's no sincerity here, just another attempt to capitalize on your heartbreak.
If your heart is breaking, if you're sprawled in bits in the aftermath of the loss of your love, pass this one by.

Historia
In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris' recent best-seller, The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion. With a close and erudite reading of the major religious texts, he documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos.

Great but...

Thoroughly enjoyed the reading, however, Hitchens has tendency to mutter and quickly recite his lines like he's tiring of the task. His quick wit, charming accent and voluminous external references become lost forcing me to replay sections over and over.

Fantastically great!!
Revisado: 09-08-18
There are great authors, best selling writers that have NEVER approached the depth, the engaging nuance, the masterful turnarounds and believable sequencing that THIS author has! Screw the three act arc or "Saving The Cat" Robinson has redefined story telling. I was immersed to the last page! The narration was problematic at first, sounding too "Dragnet" for me but he found his voice and pacing quickly and I was hooked. I want MORE!!!
