Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Take the Long Way Round
Revisado: 04-18-20
Good stuff first. This sets up the world, stakes, and characters well enough by the end that I'm excited to start the second book.
This book takes forever to get to the actual plot, though. The book continuously reintroduces ideas whenever the point of view changes. It's like bad TV where half the episode is "previously on the bridge crew..." and then they have a filler episode with an unimportant conversation with Gaz. They are doomed men, I get it. Dalanar is conflicted about everything. Let's talk some more about a saddle plot line that won't go anywhere for 600 pages.
Sadly the narrators don't really help this book. The male narrator has a snooty butler way of speaking that makes every line seem like the character is rolling their eyes. The female narrator is mostly good but has some odd voice inflections for line readings too.

Not great, Bob.
Revisado: 11-01-19
Conversations between characters is sometimes enjoyable but mostly this story is a mess. Indecipherable bible parables that wrap up events in uninteresting ways is not my thing.

Historia
Rezkin is an elite warrior who aims to restore order in Ashai after Caydean's attack on the King's Tournament transformed former allies and trading partners into enemies. With no army and only a ragtag group of refugees, Rezkin must wrest control of the kingdom from the mad and powerful usurper, who seems bent on destruction, and this may not be the biggest challenge. If he fails, the kingdom will be ripped apart, and Rezkin will have violated Rule 1 - to protect and honor his friends.

Side Track
Revisado: 06-20-18
Nick Podehl is a gem narrator, but he's wasted on this book. This might as well not exist. Nothing about the main plot went forward in this book and I found myself zoning out while characters nattered on about inconsequential events. The main character even complains about having too many burdens and I agree. The plot is unfocussed and seemingly needless with no real end reward. The books ending seems like a whole story was cut off halfway through a chapter.

Historia
When a church combusts in rural Appalachia, the bizarre trail of carnage suggests diabolical forces are at work. Charged with explaining the inexplicable, the FBI's Dr. Ailes and Agent Knoll once again turn to the ace up their sleeve: Agent Jessica Blackwood, a former prodigy from a family dynasty of illusionists. After playing a pivotal role in the capture of the Warlock, a seemingly supernatural serial killer, Jessica can no longer ignore the world - and the skills - she left behind.

Loved it! Andrew Mayne is one of my favorite podcasters and his story telling chops are superb.
