Sweet but repetitive

I like Abby’s writing style a lot, but this one was really repetitive. There is really only one obstacle for this couple and while it’s a big one, they just go over and over it in their heads and out loud to each other… then suddenly the obstacle isn’t really one and the book ends.

The side characters are pretty dynamic here and there, so that’s cool.

The tragedy in the background was overwhelming

It was unsettling and sad. The main character’s bff’s death overshadowed everything else and the main couple’s issues, while seriously, still being a topic of discussion, was unrealistic or maybe even cold.

Slow start, but a good story.

This was a good story, well written. I will admit the first few chapters are a bit boring and the couple doesn’t even meet until further in the book than you’d expect. But once they do, it’s a fun dynamic.

Just a note in case it matters - no spice at all.

Blah - no conflict, boring

I’m not one to not finish a book, but this one was hard. There was no real conflict… just silliness and (maybe I’m nuts) but it’s hard to believe someone would walk away from (spoiler alert) going pro in a game they love. My expectations for this kind of book are pretty low and this one didn’t quite meet them.

Awful female narrator

The writing wasn’t good to begin with… but the woman narrating made it so much worse. She said everything like it was a question. The way she voiced Logan and his friends was ridiculous.

I about couldn’t handle it. I had a long drive and nothing else to listen to or I wouldn’t have finished it.

It was beautiful

I love this book. It is so heartwarming and some how also heartbreaking. It was packed full of thrill and comedy and it also kept me guessing constantly.

Disappointed

This book kind of reduces the nuance and struggles of the last book. While Ryle wasn’t a good guy in the first one, in this one he’s a mustache twisting villain, especially next to the absolutely perfect Atlas.


I liked the two voices and the narration.

So whiny

I am a person who has to finish books once I start them and in this case I wish I hadn’t. The characters are so whiny and unrealistic. They’re only personality trait was politically correct. I get the need to change some of the narrative in romance, but this was so silly about it.
