But just days before his release, Laura and Shadow's best friend are killed in an accident. With his life in pieces and nothing to keep him tethered, Shadow accepts a job from a beguiling stranger he meets on the way home, an enigmatic man who calls himself Mr. Wednesday.

Amazing!
Revisado: 07-25-16
I loved having the full cast, what a luxury and delight! Appropriate for the 10 year anniversary. Full of surprises and excitement and everything onc could ask for in a book in this genre. Looking forward to the TV adaptation in 2017!

Beautiful.
Revisado: 06-23-16
If you've read any other works by Cohen, you'll know to expect a story that strikes within you every chord and every emotion and every sense. She has this special talent for targeting your unique memories and bringing out those raw emotions from you, without ever having known you.
This particular story is very real and very powerful. Her characters are flushed out and never flat. Her pacing is just right. Never rushed, never dragging.
As for the narrator, I couldn't have asked for more. This narrator is very talented and does justice for every character, for every man, woman, and child.
I encourage Audible to cover more of Cohen's work, if possible. There are plenty to choose from, and I know I am not the only one that will pay more than full price to hear more from this amazing author (and narrator!).

Historia
Summer has come to Krynn, a summer unlike any before. The sun bears down on land and sea, searing the world with relentless light and heat. Clouds and rain are nowhere to be found, and even the darkness of night brings little relief from the strange and oppressive day. Meanwhile, those who commune regularly with their gods are uneasy. Every day, their deities become more distant, more difficult to reach. Clerics' prayers go unanswered, and magic goes awry.

Beautiful

What a great end to the "seasons". Paul does so well giving every character its own life in sound, and the authors just never seem to disappoint.

Historia
The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

Beautiful!

A bit of a slow start, but absolutely worth it. I bought the physical copy and ended up not having the time to sit and read it, and I'm actually glad about it! The narrator is delightfully versatile.
The character design is unique and colorful.
The funny and clever bits always brought a smile to my face. The serious parts brought a smile to my face. This is a lovely story about humanity and how the core elements that make a child childlike (wonder, imagination, honesty, kindness) can be lost completely as one grows older and gets caught up in settling with the "that's how things are" mindset that's so easy to settle into. A very heartwarming story, and not painfully cliché or overdone (which is hard to find). I didn't dislike a thing about it!

Historia
A serial murderer known only by a grotesquely apt nickname—Buffalo Bill—is stalking women. He has a purpose, but no one can fathom it, for the bodies are discovered in different states. Clarice Starling, a young trainee at the FBI Academy, is surprised to be summoned by Jack Crawford, chief of the Bureau's Behavioral Science section. Her assignment: to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter—Hannibal the Cannibal—who is kept under close watch in the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane.

Full Characters, Human Characters
Revisado: 08-04-15
Narrator was very nice. The preview doesn't do him justice, I'll admit that I myself was hesitant to listen due to the preview.
Harris certainly does not shy from telling you what a character is feeling as if a person is really feeling it. More often than not, an author will write so far out in the third person that the language is unrelatable, and you will never feel like you're not a part of it. I mostly listened to this on the commute to work, and it would often upset my stomach before getting there. The language is not crude. The realism of it is sickening. In a perfect way.
Hannibal is a beautiful mind, his palace building and offering rooms to Starling. Starling is never made to be unnecessarily weak, which is far too common nowadays. Starling, and the characters that surround her, all have their weaknesses. Even Hannibal. They don't have quirks or faults that are meant to endear, they have true human faults and quirks. No character is made flat, and Harris won't drone about what isn't important about them.
Whether it's detailing the extremes or the neutrals, Harris is a fantastic voice of the human experience.
