The 4th installment of the Duke Dempsey Mystery has our hero on a luxurious train ride with some of the world's most powerful people. A double murder puts Duke back on the hunt. It's a race against time in this mystery that will keep you guessing until the final chapter. Jesse Gossett once again puts on a stellar performance as he brings Duke Dempsey and this noir story to life.

Gene Blake does a masterful job capturing the genre and scene of this noir murder mystery. The story is set in Charleston, SC right before America jumped into World War 2. This is the second book in the series and is very consistent with the first. I am the author of this series and wanted to give a review of the performance. This is the second project I worked with Gene on and his professionalism is second to none. He immerses himself into each narration and it really shows. His gritty style really brings Duke Dempsey to life. We hope you enjoy this story as much as we did creating it.

The Big Sleep is Raymond Chandler at his best and classic Phillip Marlowe. The story has hands down shaped the landscape of the private eye story. His descriptive story telling is phenomenal and maybe a little strange to readers of this era, that prefer imagination then someone spelling out every detail. Ray Porter the narrator, is great and does a terrific Phillip Marlowe. Some of his emotion for the other characters fell a little flat but nothing to distract from the story. If you are a big fan of detective novels then you need to start with the god father of them all.

The narrator Gene Blake does an amazing job transporting the listener to 1939 Charleston in this detective novel reminiscent of the detectives of yesteryear. Gene’s voice is perfect for this genre and his performance really shines. This will be a series and we hope Gene continues as Duke Dempsey!

As a writer and reader of classic detective novels this one by Baldacci really surprised me. He stepped out of his comfort zone and went for a 1940's hard boiled detective story in the same vein as Philip Marlowe and Sam Spade. In my opinion he did a fantastic job capturing that feel and hopefully started a new series in the process. The character development was stellar as usual with Baldacci and he did a great job of transporting the listener back in time. The main character, Aloysius Archer, is WWII vet who had spent some time in the slammer and finds himself having trouble integrating back into society. While on parole he meets some unsavory characters and has to navigate a sea of deceit and finds himself once again on the wrong side of the law. It is a spectacular who done it with a little twist for good measure. Let's just hope there is more in store for Mr. Archer.

John Grisham does it again in this racially charged court room drama. I was a big fan of Time to Kill and was pleased to see Jake Brigance make another appearance. Grisham once again does a great job with his character development immersing you in their lives and struggles. The events take place after the case in A Time to Kill and Jake is balancing getting his practice where he wants it and the possibility of his mentor getting his law licence back. A rich citizen commits suicide and leaves all his money to his maid. A huge legal battle ensues between the family of the deceased and Jake, who overseas the estate. Sycamore Row kept me engage from beginning to end and the classic Grisham twist made it that more entertaining. Micheal Beck did an amazing job with the narration and I will look for more works read by him.
