Awesome podcast
Revisado: 11-03-21
Definitely worth a listen, I learned a lot and was reminded of some things I needed to remember. He really shows the link between money and politics and why which hints at why we are where we are. I really enjoyed the podcast and guests and will most likely re-listen to the series it was so interesting.

Why do publishers do this 🤬
Revisado: 02-26-21
First I love Ann Bishop, why the publisher decided to change narrators after so many books is beyond me. And I’m sure the new guy is fine but John Sharian is the voice of those characters for me, sort of like when they wanted him to change the original accent for Jaenelle in Tangled Web it is extremely jarring. Often I find myself correcting new narrators when they change the pronunciation of words or names throughout the story greatly reducing my joy in the story. This seems to be happening more often lately like the disastrous new narrator in the Discovery of Witches series yuk. Anyway I bought this book a year ago and it was so annoying that I made it to chapter 2 and gave up, I’m going to try one more time before the new book comes out if I can’t deal I’ll get both in ebook which is kind of annoying as I listen while I work.

They were the gentlemen bad boys of rock. Forming in a garage in a small town in Indiana. Taking their licks on the road. Going balls to the wall until they made their big break. And then Preacher McCade and the Roadmasters redefined rock and roll. Guided by their tortured lead singer and songwriter, the Roadmasters changed the face of music in the '80s and '90s. And on their journey to becoming one of the most enduring bands in history - dogged by rumors and myth and fueled by drugs and booze - the Roadmasters had one touchstone.

A different voice
Revisado: 01-09-20
Not written in her usual style but very enjoyable none the less. Had to switch to a different book because I needed to sleep but just kept in tune with the story. My only comment is accent I like the narrator have many books she reads however there have been 2 instances of mispronunciation in 2 books she has read for Kristen Ashley. I try not to be nit picky but it’s jarring, ‘ cher’ in a native Lausanne accent is short for ‘cheri’ not sure of spelling. It basically means cherished or darlin’ and is pronounced like the Cher maybe with a little more accent on the E and R. It’s a small thing but it runs through the entire book. Just saying if you are unfamiliar with an accent or how to pronounce something ask someone, I mean Stevie Wonder has an entire song with the proper prononciation.

WOW I can't believe I listened to the whole thing
Revisado: 08-04-16
I liked Ruin even if it was a bit sappy, it did have an actual story and character development. It had been a long time since I read Toxic I forgot, forgot there was little story forgot the characters were two dimensional selfish and insipid. I just couldn't get into it because I had vague cranky feelings for the characters. So much of the story did not make sense because things would just come out of left field that mostly I just wanted to know why. Particularly the female protagonist why was she crying and being a ninny, I found her to be selfish and boring. I don't want to be mean or anything but it was bad by the end I was counting the minutes to the end.

Great for all ages
Revisado: 05-14-13
Where does Foundation rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I love the Valdemar series by Mercedes Lackey, and Nick Podehl is one of my favorite performers. This is a book I will listen to over and over.
What other book might you compare Foundation to and why?
Not sure what I would compare this series to because it is its own unique world. However I would put with greats like Chronicles of Narnia, David Eddings books, and Harry Potter because both young and older readers will enjoy I started the series in my 30's.
Which character – as performed by Nick Podehl – was your favorite?
Mags of course and his Companion Dallon I also like Harold Nicholas and his daughter.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Mags coming to terms with his freedom after spending his childhood in slavery and retched conditions.
Any additional comments?
Even though most of the Valdemar series is for YA and adult readers the Foundation grouping is appropriate for readers as young as 8, though you may need at the beginning to explain why people are so mean or questions on words that may not be known yet. The Foundation grouping has a good lessons in empathy, ethics, and cultural understanding of people different then oneself.
As a person with LD(ADHD and dyslexia) I find the performer Nick Podehl very easy and enjoyable to listen to. This is not true of all performers but his cadence and speed of speech make him not only enjoyable but help with reading retention. If you have a child who is LD or not a great reader he is one of the best to listen to, and be able use the book in school work like a book report or just for fun.

Love Jennifer Cruise
Revisado: 04-17-13
I found Jennifer Cruise while wondering around the book store looking for a new author many many years ago. I found Faking It which comes after this book because I liked the colors of the cover, silly I know but picked up read the back and bought it. It was not in a section i normally perused as I was young and a sci-fi/ fantasy fan, but it immediately caught me up and made me laugh. Then of course I had to read Welcome To Temptation and everything else she wrote, I enjoyed them all. But Welcome To Temptation and it’s companion Faking It have always been a favorite, because I have a sister and we always wanted a brother and the giggles, and they were how I found her. These books are for fun, if you are looking for anything else they may not be for you. Even the sex is fun not gritty and play by play, but rather fun and sexy. The characters are fun and not perfect which I love. I have reread all her books many times usually when I’m super busy and stressed as they give me the comic relief I need to get to the other side. And Jennifer Cruise tells a good story and really that’s the most important part of a book review. I like the audio versions as well, think the narrator did a stand up job, good timing and actually gives characters their own voice instead of everyone sounding the same, and she does good men’s voices not just lowering hers but with inflection so you know it’s a guy. If you want a laugh and a good story give this book a try you won’t be sorry.

Revisado: 10-25-12
Where does Shadow of Night rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The woman who reads these books for the audio rocks, I love the way she does the guys. I would go as far as saying that after the last two audio books I will most likely skip the hard back on the next book and just go right to audio.

Love the series not so happy about change of voice
Revisado: 10-25-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Belladonna to be better than the print version?
I pretty much love anything by Anne Bishop, and was not sure if I would like this series. However it ended up being one of my favorites b/c of the humor. I was not thrilled with the change of narrator though. I really like the guy who read Sebastian, he is one of my favorite narrators, and would have liked it better if he had read the second book. Other than that I am happy with the audio book.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Did not like the way she made the women sound and hated the way she did Sebastian's voice.
