Historia
As a young, queer couple who flip houses, Charlie and Eve can’t believe the killer deal they’ve just gotten on an old house in a picturesque neighborhood. As they’re working in the house one day, there’s a knock on the door. A man stands there with his family, claiming to have lived there years before and asking if it would be alright if he showed his kids around. People pleaser to a fault, Eve lets them in. As soon as the strangers enter their home, uncanny and inexplicable things start happening.

This kept me going with awesome twists, turns and a solid mystery. Who to believe!? Great story and performance. I'll say no more because talking about it may bring spoilers.

Our narrator should be happy, shouldn't she? She's young, thin, pretty, a recent Columbia graduate; she works an easy job at a hip art gallery and lives in an apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan paid for, like the rest of her needs, by her inheritance. But there is a dark and vacuous hole in her heart, and it isn't just the loss of her parents, or the way her Wall Street boyfriend treats her, or her sadomasochistic relationship with her best friend, Reva. It's the year 2000 in a city aglitter with wealth and possibility; what could be so terribly wrong?

Great time capsule Unlikable Heroine
Revisado: 08-18-24
I know NYC at the turn of the millennium well and this book captures the young, beautful people that flocked there. The angst, dreams, dating scene, obnoxious art scene all ring true. This young woman is a horrible person so its hard to feel any sumpathy for her. That said, the writer keeps you interested through the great storytelling so you have to see what happens to her. Great performace by

wonderful stories of an amazing career
Revisado: 07-19-24
Judi Dench is an absolute treasure. As a Shakespeare and theater nerd I ate this up. She covers her best roles, her take on the plays, the people she worked with and her own analysis of why 400 years later we still find these plays still connect with our souls. The only disappointment was it wasnt her voice, but the woman narrator was sooo good, I thought it was Judi herself. The epilogue story she tells about her ancestry was the cherry on top!

Great story of resilience and passion
Revisado: 06-27-22
Full disclosure, I adore the TV show The Lost Kitchen. I just love Erin, the team of women that work at the restaurant, her Mom and lovely husband. I didnt know what to expect from this and I loved it. We learn about how Erins love of food started at a young age, grew to a passion and had its ups and downs along the way. She is brutally honest about hard things such as abuse, depression and addiction. Beautifully poetic when talking about food, her surroundings, her love for her son. Hearing this in her voice made it all the more engaging. This fellow New Englander will root for her success even more now.

I found this mix of historical drama and modern day feminisn enthralling. well researched with great use of period language and speech formality. The descriptions of early colonial Boston were fantastic......crazy superstitions and all. The courtroom scenes were particularly well written and performed.

Historia
For the last several years, Penn and Kim Holderness of The Holderness Family have done the hard maintenance and the research to learn how to fight better. With the help of their marriage coach Dr. Christopher Edmonston, they break down their biggest (and in some cases, funniest) fights. How did a question about chicken wings turn into a bra fight (no, not a bar fight; a bra fight)? How did a roll of toilet paper lead to tears, resentment, and a stint in the guest bedroom?

Love these Two
Revisado: 07-17-21
Even if you dont know this couple from their popular videos and podcast you should give this a listen. Yes it's a marriage advice book, which I didnt think I needed. Being a fan, I thought Id give it a shot. The books focus is on communication and respect that transcends marriage. Penn and Kim are charming and funny storytellers who also will make you tear up a bit. They didn't so much read the book, as have a conversation. This made me connect with them and there stories.

Amazing Heroine
Revisado: 01-08-20
Eleanor made me laugh out loud and gasp at the tragedy of her life. What starts off as a story of that quirky coworker or friend from high school that we all have in our lives, turns into an amazing tale of loneliness, depression and a fight to confront ones past. Beautifully performed.
