In the fall of 1939, Grace Baker’s three brothers board Canadian ships headed for war. Grace stays behind, tending to the homefront and the general store that helps keep her small Nova Scotian community running. One day, a handsome stranger ventures into the store, claiming to be a trapper, and Grace becomes enamored. Not the story from the musical

While there were enough similarities to get me 75% through the book before discussing the books plot, at which point I was informed this book was not the namesake of the upcoming stage play we will see. This books performance was good, I found the story predicable.
