Exodus is an international publishing phenomenon - the towering novel of the 20th century's most dramatic geopolitical event. Leon Uris magnificently portrays the birth of a new nation in the midst of enemies - the beginning of an earthshaking struggle for power. Here is the tale that swept the world with its fury: the story of an American nurse, an Israeli freedom fighter caught up in a glorious, heartbreaking, triumphant era. Here is Exodus - one of the great best-selling novels of all time.

It's a classic. Excellent. It is very engaging for the most part but at times did drag on a bit. I am very glad to have listened to it

I liked this book and the characters. It's a good story. But just as I think the story is getting better, it ends. Their journey was not over. There was still much to be done and it just ended. I have no idea what happened to the characters or how things really end. I was left wanting and disappointed.

Not Bad
Revisado: 09-14-23
I am giving just 3 stars because this book is not up to the level of some of Archer’s other book. I found it slow and disappointing for much of the book. It had a few interesting things happen as the story developed but overall it was just average. Perhaps I expect too much.

Another great Wilbur Smith
Revisado: 12-06-22
I really enjoyed the listen. Wilbur Smith is such a good writer and once again he crafted an amazing story. I was disappointed when it finished and I wanted to know how the lives of the characters would evolve. I will go to the next volume.
But it was not my favorite Wilbur Smith . At times I was just a little aggravated by the level of detail and what I felt was stretching the truths on the accomplishments.

It's a love story
Revisado: 12-06-22
I don't understand the high ratings for this book. The historical context is presented with Rose colored glasses and does not convey the horror of the war. The main focus of the book is the proverbial love between a patient and care giver. I thought the story lacking in depth and over simplified - almost a cliche. I could never give it 4 stars let alone 5.
I guess it's just not my

Historia
Young Peony is sold into a rich Chinese household as a bondmaid - an awkward role in which she is more a servant, but less a daughter. As she grows into a lovely, provocative young woman, Peony falls in love with the family's only son. However, tradition forbids them to wed. How she resolves her love for him and her devotion to her adoptive family unfolds in this profound tale, based on true events in China over a century ago.

Judaism in China
Revisado: 10-30-22
I have listened to The Good Earth by Pearl Buck and purchased this one as well. It is really interesting to hear of the traditions and practices in China that Pearl witnessed and how Judaic beliefs blended with Chinese tradition. I did not find the book as good as some other listeners and got a little bored with all the drama. I did not finish it all.

Loved It!
Revisado: 10-22-22
I didn't think I could listen to another books about War II but am so glad I listened to this one. Few books can truly reflect the suffering of people during that time. This book is focused on how ordinary people, who were not Jews, were impacted by the German occupation and the pervasive cruelty and fear they faced every day. Their stories are both heartbreaking and encouraging as people coped with the occupation and how, once the war was over, started to rebuild their fractured lives with love and hope .

Just Brilliant!
Revisado: 10-09-22
An excellent story and the John Grisham I love. I want more like this. The book could have been tightened up a little but I'm not complaining. The end was a little flat - it felt like a hard stop when another paragraph was needed but that is small stuff in the light of the great story.
