Inheriting your uncle's supervillain business is more complicated than you might think. Particularly when you discover who's running the place. Charlie's life is going nowhere fast. A divorced substitute teacher living with his cat in a house his siblings want to sell, all he wants is to open a pub downtown, if only the bank will approve his loan. Then his long-lost uncle Jake dies and leaves his supervillain business (complete with island volcano lair) to Charlie. But becoming a supervillain isn't all giant laser death rays and lava pits.

Delightful!
Revisado: 01-26-24
I LOVED this book from start to finish. The story line, the pacing, the villainous villains, the cats, the dolphins. All of it. And Wil Wheaton is the perfect narrator. I could listen to him tell a story always. I sincerely hope there might be sequel(s) and you have Wil narrate all of them.

Historia
Working as an investigator for the supernatural elite means living by three simple rules: don’t ruffle feathers, keep the clients (vampires, shifters, witches, etc.) happy, and never give them a reason to want you dead. Simple. Unfortunately, Tessa Graves just can’t seem to follow the rules. And that’s why 300 bloodthirsty wolf shifters are hot on her trail.

Not a fan of the narrator
Revisado: 10-06-23
I enjoyed the storyline very much. The narrator, however, is a whole other thing. The constant, constant mispronunciations just grated on my nerves (Lady, it’s “arGue” not “arYue”), and her performance was quite stilted with little to recommend it. I guess I’ll probably listen to the rest of the series but perhaps I’ll just read them so the mispronunciations don’t frustrate me. PLEASE hire someone else!

Historia
Not even Naomi's prophetic dreams prepare her for the mysterious wanderer who appears just in time to snatch her from danger, nor the upheaval he brings in his wake. No knight in shining armor, Reynolds once risked Naomi's life, and that dark secret again threatens it. When Naomi discovers the world of magic and of what she is capable, not even Reynolds can slow the fate barreling down upon them both.

Not well written
Revisado: 02-20-22
I couldn’t get past the first few chapters. Nothing in the story made any sense. No back story. Nothing to bring anything together. Perhaps there is something that comes before to make this one make sense…?
