She is pretty and new in town and men fall for her immediately for 4 chapters. Then it get a little more interesting when she set out to find out what happened to her mother. However, she is not likeable. Everyone has to clean up her mistakes. And of course she lands on her feet in the in (big time) I want to start an new type of mystery name(like Cozy) and that is "Mush Mysteries'
There are unexpected twist that helped make the story interesting. Heroine is just to scatterbrained for me.

More romance than mystery

I am as tired of Gaelic romance as I am River dancing. In the right hands this might make a good time romance movie but not a very good listen. The entire first half was pure romantic wish list for both oppressed class history and boy girl fatal love. Well , her husband was murdered but that seems to be a sideline story.

I think the first book about Darling Dahlias was The Cucumber Tree. This is a very good series written by Susan Wittig Albert. The series starts at the beginning of the depression in the 1930's. The characters are very well described and charming. This is how to write a cozy mystery. Not a romance novel . No repetitious fact rehashing ,no blood and gore, just very interesting situations and character description. Very well done.
Also, her China Bayle's mystery's are well written, although I probably would not try the herbal receipts unless I had a café in my small town. Great writing. You will enjoy these books.
I must say I have not listen to Albert's Beatrix Potter series, but I am sure they are well written.

70% of this book is adult mush romance. To bad because it was attached to a fair mystery. Writer spent so much time on mush that the mystery seemed rushed and confused at the end. PLEASE AUDIBLE READERS WRITE REVIEWS. If you do not tell us the make up of book, we are stuck with questionable ratings. If we wanted a romance book we would buy a romance book.

There should be a category called Adult puppy love. Romance semi mystery. Every successful thing used by other writers was used by this writer but done badly. Yuppie food like food cozy mystery but awful receipt. A dog , but a poodle. Very badly done all the way around.

I do not get the ratings. Is this writer really Anne Perry. Typical light reading , no in-depth physiological analyst, repetitious 'it could have been so and so' to expand book, romance ugh. I will listen to it again some day just to see if I change my mind. I just found it a boring read and I could not picture or like characters.

The reader makes characters sound like Santa Claus or Jewish Rabbi. Horrible. Takes away for adventure factor.
Not very descriptive story. More time was spent on aggravating attempt at suspense than thrill of discovery that treasure hunters feel. I did not feel it. Not Indiana Jones but Paw and Paw Kettle.

Why did I buy this book? I hate knitted garments and refuse to sit around with a knitter. Predictable waste of a good subject. I knew she was someone's daughter the minute she hit the scene.
