Historia
In the distant past, a time of magic and swordplay, there lived Harold, the mightiest lich of all, a master of arcane sciences, and a challenger of gods. After reaching the pinnacle of his power and finding it surprisingly bland, Harold waged a cataclysmic war against the gods, aiming to shatter the very system that confined him. He took a nap, but he is awake once more.

Meh. Narrorators absolutely killed it. Story was boring and interactions were mostly cringe unless Harold was involved.

I didn't even realize that I listened to 90% of this book in one day. the moment I set it off I just couldn't stop listening. from his encounter with the gods to educating the limpet and seeing what sort of world herald is trying to create... the puns definitely had me chuckling and I rather enjoyed them myself as a connoisseur. they repeatedly hit my funny bone. I can hardly wait for the next book

A Dead Ringer!
Revisado: 04-25-25
I like how this story takes a unique perspective on what it's like to be an undead. or what a curious mind is willing to do in order to accomplish their goal of understanding the universe. I also like how the author creates this extremely powerful character, but he doesn't necessarily solve all the problems himself. it's more of a using his wit and mind. rather than pure world conquest. I didn't even realize that I had binged the entire book in one afternoon.

a world building story
Revisado: 04-11-25
I'm grateful the author did a "recently in history" to start this book. I forgot some details from previous books, so it's greatly appreciated. This book felt like this started slow, but it's necessary to build the second half. important details. so glad that the author didn't make invincible characters. it's always world building and character building when people die in these stories. it's more realistic and impactful.

The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

No spoilers, The book started out where you would expect with the last one ending but it got so interesting over halfway through. Unexpected plot twist had me interested until the very end. thinking that Juice Box and Carl would have to fight it out... only for the betrayal.... and Samantha newsbomb when you least suspect it... even more drama with the AI... and the ending!! OMG, must-read!!

monotonous and lost interest
Revisado: 02-01-25
Narrator change threw me off. Dont know who is who, and the characters don't have any personality anymore. Narrator himself doesn't seem interested in reading this book or invested in these characters... Author is now just making as many references to IRL history and things as possible to give the implications that these beings in Cal are the reason for things like Tailor Swift or pop music.... it's just.... things that could be a wiki, not a 40-chapter book. :(

Historia
Infinite Worlds is the most popular VRMMORPG on the market. Its maps are so vast, developer Hard Rock Data utilizes a network of highly advanced artificial intelligences to control it. But it’s not without problems. That’s why Game Masters like Jeff Driscoll have jobs. The downside? He’s not allowed to play the game. Something about conflicts of interest and favoritism. His very boring and tedious job is to help players deal with the occasional bug that slips through the cracks and ensure they enjoy their time playing enough to give a five-star rating.

badly written AI takes over technology horror story
Revisado: 01-13-25
The story is all about what would happen if some AI technology took over a video game. I don't know how everybody in this game is incompetent and can't figure out what happened but they're somehow smart enough to create AI technology in the first place. All of this for an anticlimactic ending in which the main character becomes a player. the best part was the epilogue saying 'what the f happened"

Historia
Neither cosmic philosopher Lars Soren, hotshot pilot Bianca Petrescu, nor the high priestess Jessica McHugh—Lady Death herself—can say quite where in the galaxy they are. But after an experiment gone horribly wrong, one thing is clear: Asphodel Station isn’t in orbit around Jupiter any longer. Worse, the monsters that live out here—ancient eldritch beings thought only to exist in stories and nightmares—have now been alerted to Earth’s existence.

gods, ghosts, and machines
Revisado: 12-29-24
I feel like the author was trying to do too much. this book took HP Lovecraft creation of Cthulhu and modified it into some god tale about multiple gods within the entire universe. or at least within the Milky Way... wraps in multi-universe theory for a minute... putting ghosts into machines in order to operate them... All in order to have a war with some mysterious God figures that enslave gooey chimera creatures. I feel like it could have been better structured to wrap this entire author-created-universe across multiple books, but it sort of just feels crammed together. Too many random ideas mashed together in order to create a convoluted first-half of the book that leaves the second-half feeling like a poor recovery attempt at telling a story. it just isn't for me.

Joe and the Dwarves are doing more than surviving in the harsh climate of Jotunheim: they’re thriving. The Ritualist’s improvements to their defenses are paying dividends; and he’s hailed as a genius for ending threats before they come into striking distance of the burgeoning City. Every day, the Town expands further, allowing for more facilities, a larger population, and drawing in ever-more monsters.

so much is going on
Revisado: 10-18-24
I both like the the author doesn't waste time on a lot of little stuff now, but the progression is extremely fast. it's both awesome and at the same time almost feels like I'm missing something. The entire city built in a single book shows how much Joe has progressed through his skills and how he can influence so much. so short a time. but with it moving so quickly it almost feels like a wave of the wand in order to make progress. I know this is just me feeling like it's too short when it's actually Joe automating and multitasking but still... I still think it's a great book and all the things that have happened inside of it are key story elements

Historia
Joe the Ritualist fled Alfheim with the remnants of the Dwarven Oligarchy at his side. Though the hairy warriors number in the tens of thousands, they stand at the brink of extinction; and the new world they landed on isn’t pulling any punches. Jotunheim is a winter wonderland featuring a vast array of monsters: the least of which are hulking lizard-ape Hoardlings, and carnivorous penguins standing a dozen feet tall.

Joe builds a city tower defense. he struggles with a faction of dwarves that don't like him, and the one dwarf I had hoped would come to be better after the last book.... just proves to be a jerk still. what an interesting intro to this new icy world, I can't wait for what's next!

Historia
Destroying the portals between worlds was supposed to force the entity out of Rale. Instead, it's trapped him there. This has cut Nolost off from much of his power, buying some time to try to stop him from annihilating the world. Dante and Blays' last hope lies in finding someone or something called the Burdan rah Saylan. Knowing nothing about the Burdan except for their name, they travel far to the east into lands they've never heard of.

Loop-holea and no-point NPCs

Loop-holes and no-point NPCs
I should have stopped at book 6. This last triology is a trainwreck of dumb. From random NPCs introduced to do nothing but stall for time in the book and take up space, to garbage plot ideas. The Author has given up on productive story and just writing jibberish. I can tell the Author's heart is no longer in this series with the amount of plot-holes and lack of thought put into how to play things out. Now he's just writing because publishers demand quota... Note: Keep in mind, this story takes place at least 10yrs after book 1; Apparently Dante has not progressed mentally or emotionally since being a child and has become rather whiney, regressing from the imposing character he made in book 2-3. Also, book 9 & 10: Dante & Blays completely forget about the option of using the Golden Stream they learned from Tanara Tane. This amazes me, because the author is so determined to point out the use of Odosaien Blade every time they draw their swords.
From random people deciding to trust Dante to suddenly trying to sacrifice Dante less than 2 hours after he saves them.... This book is worse than book 8 in making nonsense FILLER ideas being shoved together to create some semblance of story... But this book really went downhill at the start of Ch10. Why did the author bring back a decade-old dead character (Cally)?! I swear, the only reason this was done was to try and sell his other spin-off book that wasn't that interesting to read/listen to where Cally was the MC.... What's the point of having the female NPC (Alayah) try to train Dante & crew on using The Weave if the author just magically brings Cally back to life?! That's a waste of a chapter (filler). Then, Ch 13/14 Dante realizes Rale might lose Nether/Ether in its fight against Nolost. Dante proceeds to throw a tantrum and just pouts for a whole hour-long chapter. Then,
Ch15 everything just pluments down that hill of plotholes and stupidity. Moriah (bad guy) magically teleports out of the pocket-realm that Dante is in (This is stupid plot-hole because she's been TRAPPED there with the Burdan since Dante destroyed the gateways, screaming about being locked in and trapped with no door out FOR MONTHS) and attacks Narashtavik citizens. Blays and Gladdic decide to chase after her while Dante keeps training. Then some bs-logic with being able to travel through the Weave... there's just too many plotholes
