Historia
By the time he was 27 years old, Kwame Onwuachi had opened - and closed - one of the most talked-about restaurants in America. He had launched his own catering company with $20,000 that he made from selling candy on the subway, yet he’d been told he would never make it on television because his cooking wasn’t “Southern” enough. In this inspiring memoir about the intersection of race, fame, and food, he shares the remarkable story of his culinary coming-of-age.

Just no...
Revisado: 05-09-19
Truly Pathetic! Rarely in my life have I given time to listen to someone so full of themselves as Kwame Onwuachi. I skipped over this title initially, but I was intrigued. A young, black chef. I have read/listened to numerous bios and auto bios about and by other chefs and I thought, perhaps, that this might be a fresh perspective. Wow! I had high hopes for this book, but I was let down violently. I sympathize with anybody who has come up from difficult circumstances, but this guy has completely missed the boat. I was hoping for an opportunity to finish this book with newfound respect, but I finish it with a level of disgust so expansive that there are no words to express it. Just don't bother. There are plenty of other chefs who believe in their own importance, and with egos a mile high, but this guys blasts through the stratosphere into outer space and beyond. To actually admit, and state with great pride that he is not humble, did not become humbled after his failures, is poignant arrogance to the uttermost. To be a great person is to be a humble person. To be a great chef is to be an even more humble person. This book is sadly riddled with his political views from top to bottom. He never stops feeling sorry for himself, and can't obviously handle constructive criticism. Just because a person graduates from CIA, does not make them a chef, or a rock star. Nobody is interested in somebody who is only chasing fame. Your time is much better spent listening to books about such chefs as Boulud, Ripert, Loiseau, Pepin, even Julia Child. To think I wasted a credit on this.

This classic expose of the Fed has become one of the best-selling books in its category of all time. Where does money come from? Where does it go? Who makes it? The money magician's secrets are unveiled. Here is a close look at their mirrors and smoke machines, the pulleys, cogs, and wheels that create the grand illusion called money. A boring subject? Just wait. You'll be hooked in five minutes. It reads like a detective story - which it really is, but it's all true.

Fantastic!

Extremely informative and very eye opening! I feel most indebted to the author for his willingness to extract the fullest extent of pertinent details for this work. Great work! Thank you so much sir! I can’t wait to get a printed copy so I can actually read it myself and review the footnotes.

Historia
The invention of numerals is perhaps the greatest abstraction the human mind has ever created. Virtually everything in our lives is digital, numerical, or quantified. The story of how and where we got these numerals, which we so depend on, has for thousands of years been shrouded in mystery. Finding Zero is an adventure-filled saga of Amir Aczel's lifelong obsession: to find the original sources of our numerals.

Not bad for an evolutionists take...
Revisado: 02-14-17
Fairly interesting, but leans heavily upon the dates and historical periods per the theory of evolution. I am not a proponent of said theory, and would be most enthusiastic if somebody would venture a work on this subject from the creationist point of view. As such, I can only regard this as a mere work of entertainment with a factual account of a true story, but historically, it is nearly valueless to creationists.
