great ending to an amazing trilogy
Revisado: 02-08-25
really enjoyed the final book of the trilogy. Fabius Bile is a great character and his story is really well written. The book seems longer than it is, and not in a bad way because it adds so much in a short book. it's worth the read if you've read the other two.

blown away
Revisado: 02-02-25
As a scholar of 40k/30k books I have read over 50 Black Library books and this was one of the best. Absolutely insane third act, even if it sauntered slowly in the middle as sides and times were set. this was an excellent read.

Imperial Avengers: Infinity War
Revisado: 11-10-24
The Avengers are gathered, and The Hand of Abaddon have all the infinity sto- I mean pieces of the artifact. The story is well paced, it is fun, interesting, and the involvement of the Kin is cool.
It advances the entire plot and several character arcs, and is ready to move into the final showdown between those that remain. While the book itself doesn't have anything super amazing in it, the story is good and ends in a satisfactory cliff hanger fashion that makes it worth reading, especially as a lead up to Imperial Avengers 2: End Game.

Great that it wasn't a nurgle villian, and the story is well paced and well written. the acting is very good, with the exception the voices can blend sometimes and be hard to tell apart. otherwise very enjoyable.

dances with space wolves
Revisado: 04-28-24
this is not a book about the burning of prosperous, not really. it is very well written and perhaps one of the best books in the heresy series.
there are some weird repetitions that do hurt the story a bit. for example, I was very much tired of hearing the words "wet leopard growl". but other than that, as a thousand sons fan and someone who has never liked space wolves; I actually enjoyed the characterization of them and the tale of Casper, the Skald.

finally getting somewhere
Revisado: 02-17-24
the book series is good, this book plods a little bit like the others but finally kicks up the action and the stakes. now the stakes have always been high, they just havent felt high to me until this book when we meet the new enemy.
the only small complaint i had was the narrator, whp is fantastic, made the Arakos sound absolutely hard to listen to. i get that their descriptions of speech are jarring, and he masterfully brought that to life. id like it toned down a little bit.
I could also tell the narrator was exhausted reading batches of XP notifications because hed start to yell them. which was absolutely genius.
to the Author: please respect your voice actor enough to write some sort of a seperate script for the skills, cards and notifications. like was it necessary to read the description of the same card multiple times or read 5x about how X enemy was killed. it would be far more simpler to say: 5 enemies defeated, xp total.
otherwise a great piece of Gareth and crew's journey. if i could offer any other advice, it would be to stop repeating so much of the stuff new readers would need to get it. were very deep into the series now. its time to give your audience some credit.

Historia
The fortress world of Regium has a proud history, For millennia, it has endured when others have fallen to ruin and damnation, standing defiant in defence of the Imperium of Man. But now it is shaken. Parasitic plagues run rampant, and Regium's citizens are haunted by dreams of horrific monsters feasting upon their flesh and marrow. Lieutenant Castamon of the Ultramarines recognises these signs of an impending Tyranid invasion all too well. Rallying his warriors, the battle-hardened veteran launches a strike force to slaughter the xenos in the outer system, before it can reach Regium.

wish the voice was better
Revisado: 07-28-23
The story was somewhat predictable, but it was good. it showed the horror of the Tyranids for what they were and it was a great listen.
I wont beat the dead horse, but whiny everybody including space marines was not fun for immersion. it made tense moments a bit silly when everyone was sounding like they were crying.
the other problem with the narrator was that, whole not monotone, he didnt have any emotion when it came to tense scenes. he described a street in the same voice he described the death of a character or an explosive moment of action.
its a good story only let down by a subpar narrator. The narrator should listen to John Banks and learn from him.

The fleets and armies under the leadership of Roboute Guilliman fight for the survival of humanity against the forces of the Chaos Gods. the space wolves are still the worst chapter
Revisado: 04-15-23
however this book was a blast. while the stubborness of the space wolves and their frat boy attitudes are not compelling, the people who deal with them are.
the perspectives jump around a lot, like the other books, and tie up neatly at the end. the historator's quest with the custodian is interesting, and leaves a lot unanswered. gaes's journey is riveting and his relationship with Gheeta is a fresh coat of paint on an epic tale weve all heard many times before.
there's nothing really new to the formula, but Jonathon Banks continues his perfect narration (except for pronouncing meade as me-odd) and his ability to bring dramatic moments to life. the book is well written and well voiced and definitely not one to skip.
the haters must not be understanding how wierd and detailed the worlds of Warhammer 40k are to not like this book.

Revisado: 11-17-20
gaiman is a true master of his art. the story is so full of charm and adventure and mystery and magic. whats so powerful about this story is what he doesn't say as much as what he does say. he defines the world carefully, and allows the reader to fill in the blanks where they wish.

Revisado: 11-03-20
it reminds me a lot of Stephen kings it mixed with stranger things. i enjoyed it, I felt like the ending wasn't quite stuck right. theres so much more that could be told here and I think that missing piece could really have elevated this work to masterpiece status.
