Historia
Norway, 1880. In the secluded village of Butangen at the end of the valley, headstrong Astrid dreams of a life beyond marriage, hard work and children. And then Pastor Kai Schweigaard comes into her life, taking over the 700-year-old stave church with its carvings of pagan deities. The two church bells were forged by her forefather in the 16th century in memory of conjoined sisters Halfrid and Gunhild Hekne and are said to have supernatural powers. But now the pastor wants to tear it down, to replace it with a modern, larger church.

Great Narrator
Revisado: 01-16-25
This story had too many plot twists to be even remotely believable. I know, it's fiction, but still the storyline needs some believability. Some of the characters, particularly Elizabeth and Julian, were irritating to me; They were too good and too evil respectively. I do not enjoy the overused literary device of main characters getting angry at their potential partners over ridiculous events.
I finished the book only because I wanted to see how all those aforementioned plot twists rectified themselves. I should have closed the book and walked away half way through the reading of it.
There was some interesting history included in the novel, and the loose tie to The Last of The Mohicans was somewhat interesting.

Historia
Tindr is handsome, kind, and the best hunter in 9th century Gotland. He possesses a deep empathy with animals, which powers his reverence towards the game he takes to survive. But he is also deaf, which closes him off from the society that surrounds him - and seemingly, from finding love. Devoted parents and friends can't protect young Tindr from the bully who taunts him, from jealousy that turns murderous, or from the threat of surrender to the allure of the Lady of the Forest, who might destroy him.

Third in Series of Circle of Ceridwen
Revisado: 10-02-24
Randolph is a gifted writer whose prose is detailed filled and historically accurate. Her main characters are strong, but not perfect. Following the story of the families of Kilton and Four Stones during the time of Alfred the Great and continued Danish incursions is an exciting and unpredictable journey.

Beautifully Told
Revisado: 09-27-24
The characters in the story are multi-layered and complex humans. The author's unique story telling ability combined with her thorough historical research make this book, indeed the entire saga, a wealth of information and a story not soon forgotten.
The narrator in the audio version is a perfect match with the tale.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.
