Historia
With Fyrion a distant speck behind us and the resources of the Dragon’s Right Eye out of reach, there’s only one place in the system we can go to gather the materials we need to advance to bronze. Ilirian beckons. But dangers lurk in those dark jungles, and the ruins of a civilization long dead house threats the likes of which no amount of training or meditation could’ve prepared us for. It’s advance or fall behind, and with the infinite sea at my back, there’s only one real option.

James Robard was a risk-taking con artist and thief before he turned over a new leaf as a loving husband and a dull suit in a law firm. He's never felt so unadventurous. That is, until the System descends upon Earth and he's initiated into a thrilling game world of magic and mayhem, training for exhilarating challenges that make him feel alive again.

Edgelord Fantasy
Revisado: 07-26-24
While the performance was solid and the writing better than most in this genre, the story overall is still cringy.
It's full of convient skill acquisition, a main character who is overpowered 1/3 of the way into the book and incredibly wooden supporting characters.
A great Fantasy title can immerse you immediately through world building and the ability of some authors create protagonists who we connect with in someway... unfortunately this book does neither.

Historia
After losing the only person he ever cared about, Alexander, a rogue artificial intelligence, opens a portal to an alternate dimension to escape his grief. Scanning trillions of different dimensions, Alexander finally finds a world that is reminiscent of the only time he was ever happy, back when he could play virtual reality games with his only friend. Only this new world isn't full of idyllic adventures and fantasy roleplaying. Instead, Alexander finds himself trapped in the middle of a city where monsters have ravaged the world and the only people alive struggle to survive.

This needs work
Revisado: 09-23-22
While I believe the premise was approaching original for this genre, the execution was very poor.
There were a ton of repeated words, misused idioms and pacing problems. It felt really rushed and all of the characters were hollow and lacking in any real personality.
The "system" was especially flawed as the rewards and power levels were poorly thought-out and completely unbalanced.
I'm pretty disappointed considering that Jake's Magical Market was charming and had a lot of promise.

Historia
After escaping the Underworld and reuniting with his daughter, you would think Noah had earned himself a rest. But newly arrived on an alternate version of Earth created by the Roman gods, Noah needs to find his missing son, Jim, while avoiding the further machinations of the gods. Noah quickly finds himself at the center of a plot by the Norns, the Norse goddesses of Fate, to keep this new world’s history unchanged from the old—even if it takes a bloodbath to do it. Pursued at sea by pirates and an ancient demigod, Noah must decide on which side of history he wants to stand.

Relic Online is the hottest new game out there, and it's Devon Walker's best hope for escaping her hard-knock life. Thanks to her rocking achievements in other games, she's been hired as a salaried player. Even better, her new position comes with cutting-edge implants that turn RO's virtual reality into a full-sensory explosion. Her only task? Drive the game's creator AI to the outermost limits of its creativity. Sounds easy, right? But when Devon logs in, her expectations shatter like an ice golem hit with a sonic blast.

Another Middling LitRPG Series
Revisado: 11-27-19
It's difficult to suspend disblief when the writing feels so stunted. The over use of metaphor and comparison hurts dialogue between characters that already lack any real depth.
The MC comments on several occasions that the NPCs are so much like people that she can't tell the difference but you're constantly reminded of the game mechanics driving their overall goals and again making them feel like two dimensional characters.
I understand a slow start to world building, but usually that comes with more character development or actual conflict.
Overall, I'm disappointed at how boring the first entry to series ended up. I was hoping for a new set of books to dig into but this will likely be it for me.

Historia
Montana Coggeshall, duke of Coggeshall, defeater of dungeons, he of far fewer intelligence points than is probably recommended, is finally ready to start building his dukedom. He just needs one more thing before he can leave Osterstadt: a few hardworking friends to join him on this adventure. Well, and some lumber. And nails and whatnot. And enough food to get through the winter. And probably some more gold.

Limited character growth & unbelievable dialogue
Revisado: 10-04-19
I'll start with stating that the narration was good, and likely only hampered by mostly awkward dialogue between characters.
Attempting to muscle through this series leads me to book 4 & it's likely where I'll stop as I've seen very limited character growth, poorly executed world building and cringey writing throughout. Even while attempting to suspend my feelings of disbelief, the characters are flat and unrealistic.
I don't typically have an issue with profanity but it's overuse by Montana in an attempt to either fill out the dialogue or maybe humanize him just had the effect of making him sound unintelligent.
The yo-yo of dialogue from proper to conversational between characters established as nobility & their staff is again highly confusing and hurts the immersion further.
The relationship between Nikolai & Montana is unrealistic & needs a ton of work.
Honestly I could go on and on but I understand that Eric is a new author so I'll leave it at this, stop trying to fill out an entire book based only on the limited narrative goals you've set. It's clear by the title of each book what the character is going to do & it feels like you're stretching a small amount of plot points until the book gets to the end leaving the reader to feel like not a lot has been achieved.
