a joy for my heart
Revisado: 10-12-18
I have love this serious for years. Once again I found myself wanting to hear a fabulous narrator bring to life a beautiful story of dreams and adventure and beings of other worlds. Truly a book one can enjoy without fear of graphic gore or profanity. a true book for all ages. If I have a negative it would be that I wanted many more books of this inn keeper and her trials and successes. Ah, well, I feel fortunate to have this series of three audiobooks. It is a pleasure to seat with a cup of tea, my small dog sleeping in my lap and watch the sunset as I listen once again to the tales of the inn keeper. Hummm, I guess the inn keeper and I have a few things in common.

With an agoraphobic mother and a barely-there father, Sang abhors the isolation keeping her in the shadows. The only thing Sang craves is a fresh start and to be accepted as ordinary by her peers, because for her being different meant being cast out alone. When her family moves to a new school district, Sang infiltrates a group of boys nearly perfect in every way.

not my taste in books
Revisado: 05-23-18
I struggled to get through the first chapter. No fault of the author or narrator. I didnt find this book to fit my tastes as a mystery, a syfy, an altered state in a world of my interests. I cannot give a true review of this book as I could not concentrate on the story. I didnt find it inviting or interesting because it wasn't in my interests.

perfect performance, great story telling
Revisado: 01-05-18
a story of today meets yesterday in sooo many ways. How a young woman of today affects and is affected by life meets a man of old world charm, accumulated education and strong long life willingness to adapt to today's world when he has too.. yep, this is a story about May December love (a whole lot of accumulated Decembers in one man), a world where the life of sunshine reality lives right next store to midnight nightmares and everybody just wants to get along ..... or not. The setting is San Francisco, a rich history on its own, spreading into the outlying areas of beautiful coastal land with acres of stretching room. All the while a rich, riveting, deeply buried magical history is wound into a fabricated web that will entice, beckon and hold your interest as it tells, hints and shatters your understanding of love's expectations, how a community faces one world while living in another and when one truly sees the real from the treachery love can blossom, respect is earned and commitment is a truly lovely thing to behold.

The desert planet Arrakis, called Dune, has been destroyed. Now, the Bene Gesserit, heirs to Dune's power, have colonized a green world—and are tuning it into a desert, mile by scorched mile. Chapterhouse Dune is the last book Frank Herbert wrote before his death: A stunning climax to the epic Dune legend that will live on forever.

I love the ending as I loved the word Dune
Revisado: 08-09-17
This was a fitting ending, all conflict, all acceptance, all defiant and eventually ..... everyone made their own decisions as their life wants dictated. The ending was a bit reality, a bit speculation and , as always, a Frank Herbert twisty turn with an unexpected escape.. This is where his, and my, Dune ended. I remember placing the order in our local small book store and waiting for ages to pick up a copy straight from the box as the store employee was building the display. That was 3 decades ago. I enjoyed it as much this time as the first, and the fifteen times I read it in between. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Historia
More than 3,000 years have passed since the first events recorded in Dune. Only one link survives with those tumultuous times: the grotesque figure of Leto Atreides, son of the prophet Paul Muad'Dib, and now the virtually immortal God Emperor of Dune. He alone understands the future, and he knows with a terrible certainty that the evolution of his race is at an end unless he can breed new qualities into his species.

love the struggle
Revisado: 08-04-17
possibly the most difficult of the series to follow in parts as it ends one story history to make way for the next. this book fills out Leto II plans, personalities, control, sacrifice and even mistakes. It rushes to a crescendo while providing time to digest personalities in depth. I truly enjoyed it. It held my interest to the end where most books written in this manner do not. Frank Herbert was a brilliant writer, dreamer, story teller and author. There is a difference and few hit all the marks within a series as full and engulfing as this one. This series has often been my best friend and 5 decades later I still find them so.

I paid to be preached too?
Revisado: 08-02-17
I could not finish this book. I thought I liked Quinn Loftis, not any more. I was preached as to man is to take care of the woman while woman swoons as he will take care of her as he explained what the creator expected of man and woman and anything else is worthless and creator doesn't this and she should that and he would this and angels did that and ICKKKKK I couldn't tell if this was in today's political reviews or just another preacher since she spouted chapter and verse... literally.
I am disappointed this was not advertised correctly. I thought I was buying a book not a sermon and a very poor sermon it was. narration whined which is not the same as an actual southern accent. This was nothing more than a political religious opinion with the perfect man constantly referring to his want to have carnal relationships, barely able to control his desires with a young virgin who had to throw a glass of water on him to break his "intent". His excuse being he was so deeply in love .ICKKKK offensive in soooo many ways. never again. I will not purchase another book by this author.

The youngest of four, the least favorite of his father, Thorgrin comes to learn he has mysterious powers he does not understand, that he has a special gift, and a special destiny. An epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal.

I had to keep listening
Revisado: 06-13-17
Morgan Rice learned his trade well and from the best as is apparent in this story of untold heroes told in ways that leave one guessing who will fall and who will rise. A boy's dreams of a life beyond his grasp is told with in depth knowledge of the emotions that are present dependent on the age, background and dreams of young men while reality is often all to real and there is no returning as there is often no road home. Yet this insight is far from depressing, just sorrowful in parts while watching an inevitable growth in ability, emotional stability as well as hope and sadness evidenced depending on the right now from the yesterday was. This is not my type of story and yet I had to hear this tale written by a great writer and narrated by Mr. Farrell who is one of my favorites. enjoy.

love this book and narrator
Revisado: 06-13-17
the writing is clean, crisp and definitive. you know the person's character and build when he speaks. The Mr. Williams narrates many characters, male and female, of various places and stages of their life. He is wonderful. I could not stop listening and so I listened again 6 wks later and this is the review. The story begins without hope, just those who rise to the challenge. It continues with disillusionment even though a solution is found. This is often found with survival struggles when an unexpected presented is presented and yet fails miserably to satisfy. there were highs and lows of all descriptions and depths throughout the book yet still there was a continual upward travel to hope, survival and happiness. Love the book.
