Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

What in the world
Revisado: 12-12-23
This book is a maze of twists and turns, and honestly, some of it is so off-the-wall that I couldn't help but laugh. But, gotta admit, the story really pulled me in. Early on, I had a handle on what happened to the girl, but figuring out the who/why was not as easy. I was convinced it wasn't the obvious suspect(s). The ending left me a bit disappointed – it felt rushed with everyone explaining themselves. While I was on edge at times, most of it was too wild to take seriously. Still, I gave it 4 stars because, even with the chaotic plot, I couldn’t put it down. Finished it in just 2 days so it must not have been so bad.

Historia
Mia, the irreverent, hyperanalytical twenty-year-old daughter, has an explanation for everything—which is why she isn’t initially concerned when her father and younger brother Eugene don’t return from a walk in a nearby park. They must have lost their phone. Or stopped for an errand somewhere. But by the time Mia’s brother runs through the front door bloody and alone, it becomes clear that the father in this tight-knit family is missing and the only witness is Eugene, who has the rare genetic condition Angelman syndrome and cannot speak.

Wow!
Revisado: 12-04-23
This compelling book encourages introspection into personal biases and beliefs. Narrated by Mia, the audio version offers an exceptional experience, particularly with Eugene's character voiced by someone who communicates through spelling. Despite occasional prolonged discussions on happiness philosophy, the captivating story compensates. As a mother navigating with autism with my own daughter, the exploration of its impact on families resonated with me. I find myself pondering the characters' current situations, yearning for a sequel to uncover more about their journey and the truth behind that pivotal day.

Absolutely horrible book.
Revisado: 11-14-23
I never leave bad reviews, especially on books. I wanted to like this book and I really tried.
It was clearly only written to help support and build his brand. Now he can add “wrote a book” to his accomplishments. I’ve never watched his show so I have no preconceived notions.
His ego is nauseating. It's boring and repetitive. The only real actionable info in this book is the obvious: work hard, never stop working, never say no, anticipate their needs.
The best part of the book is toward the end when he began talking about negotiating, but sadly it’s a very small portion of the book. I appreciated reading about his take on negotiations. This is the only decent part of the book.
There just isn’t enough substance to be worth the time it took to read. There are better books out there and everything he said in the book could have been communicated in a blog post or even just an Instagram post.
