Historia
Ever since she was a tiny child, Sabriel has lived outside the walls of the Old Kingdom, away from the random power of Free Magic, and away from the Dead who won't stay dead. But now her father, the Mage Abhorsen, is missing, and to find him Sabriel must cross back into that world.

Old favorite
Revisado: 01-10-25
This was my first time listening to the book, but I’ve had Sabriel in my favorites list for a couple of decades (ooof how is that possible?). I enjoyed listening this go round and loved listening to Tim Curry’s dulcet tones.
Sabriel was my first introduction into necromancy / paranormal fantasy and I enjoyed learning about their world of necromancy and charter magic.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Revisado: 12-30-23
Wow. I did not see that ending coming. The world Yarros has created is interesting and engaging. Xaden is for sure shadow daddy material Violet is still a bada**. Now off to research how mad I’m going to be aka how long until the next book comes out. Here’s to hoping it’s sooner rather than later!

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Loved it - narration and all
Revisado: 12-23-23
Yes, please. I’m a little salty at myself for not diving into this one sooner! I loved this book. I love the dragon riders, the drama, the intrigue. I officially understand the “Xaddy” hype and I’m not made at it even a little. Xaden is a top tier shadow wielder and I’m so here for any enemies to lovers trope. Violet, excuse me, Violence is a fantastic heroine full of “flaws” that she has to overcome and she kicks ass with how she does so. I finished this at 4 am and am so glad I already have the next one to start today! Also… I was not expecting to cry and I DID NOT LIKE THAT PART!!!
Narrator was fine by me, though I saw the update about the changes, so I may not have had the version people complained about. I enjoyed the narrator and absolutely loved the book!

Historia
When Iris decides to move to New York to restart her life, she realizes she underestimated how big the Big Apple really is—all the nostalgic movies set in New York she’d watched with her mom while eating their special secret-recipe gelato didn’t quite do it justice. But Bobby, Iris’s best friend, isn’t about to let her hide away. He drags her to a famous autumn street fair in Little Italy, and as they walk through the food stalls, a little family-run gelateria catches her eye—could it be the same shop that’s in an old photo of her mother’s?

Another hit for Josie Silver
Revisado: 12-18-23
Iris and Gio are perfection. I love the way, once again, Josie Silver wove the past and present to form such a beautifully told story of lasting love, and heartache, the ties that bind, and finding solace and family in unique people and places. I have loved all of the books I’ve read by Silver and look forward to many more! These are starting to be my favorite “Christmas” / holiday romance books.

After a startling betrayal ends with both Sera and the dangerously seductive ruler of the Shadowlands she has fallen madly in love with being held captive by the false King of the Gods, there is only one thing that can free Nyktos and prevent the forces of the Shadowlands from invading Dalos and igniting a War of Primals. Convincing Kolis won’t be easy, though–not even with a lifetime of training.

I love this series and have found myself enjoying this prequel series almost more than the original. Nyktos and Sera’s love story is amazing and I look forward to more!
Kolis is a turd and I hope he gets everything he deserves. Sotoria deserves retribution and I look forward to seeing her get it. Now to wait on the continuation..

Historia
Coming home to Friendly was the last thing Cord Hayes ever intended to do. The MC had declared him an outcast when he'd run off to join the Navy. His brothers had grown up without him. But when he was wounded and no longer fit for service, the military sent him to the last place he wanted to be - the place where he'd lost everything. Tori Malcolm was a ghost. Her only plan was to pay penance for the mistakes of her past, and the last thing she needed was a scarred soldier getting in her way, especially one who did nothing to hide his hatred for everything she represented.

Cliffhangers…
Revisado: 11-02-23
Not bad, for sure. I’m not going to lie though, I’m real annoyed at how it ended. I was really hoping for a better wrap up and I wasn’t pleased with the kind of cliffhanger it left us on. It seems like it’s going to bleed into the next book, but if these continue to be somewhat standalone, I feel like it’s going to skip right into the next couples romance and leave things left to be desired as it pertains to Cord and Tori’s story. Since I haven’t read the 3rd book, I’ll leave it at that and hope I’m pleasantly surprised and the story continues with their involvement too.

Love had cut me in so many ways I wondered if my heart could take any more. But then I saw him. He was my boss. A single father. And to top it off he was insolent. I didn’t intend to want him, that wasn’t my objective. But somehow I couldn’t say no. We shouldn’t have worked, but like witchcraft, I was under his spell. My heart’s been destroyed before. I’m not sure it can handle heartbreak again.

Not prepared
Revisado: 10-27-23
Well, one thing I was not prepared for… this book to make me teary. I have to admit, I enjoyed this series much more than I thought I would after the first book. Olympia’s bratty attitude is great and I love how she pushes Darby the way she does, and how unapologetically confident she is! I enjoyed getting to see the inner workings of Darby and see him crack open a bit.
While the first book wasn’t my fave, I did enjoy the other 3 books and this series quite a bit!

Historia
It wasn’t meant to be this way - she shouldn’t have fallen for my brother and left me for him. But she did. And now I’m left to pick up the pieces of my shattered, broken heart. And to top it off, they want me to come to their wedding. Do they think I’m a pushover? Do they think of me as a joke? There’s one unexpected surprise though: Storm. She blew in just like one and makes the pain diminish. She’s exactly as her name describes her - she is a storm. A beautiful and powerful one. But not all things are meant to last.

Much better
Revisado: 10-25-23
I enjoyed this book much better than the first! I love Echo and Storm. Echo’s family makes me want to throat punch the lot of them, and his ex deserves every piece of karmatic retribution. Storm is feisty and self sufficient and doesn’t take any of Echo’s bs and instead puts him in his place!
I still cannot believe the audacity of his ex and how she treated him throughout the book, and even more so with regards to the end!
I’m happy for Echo that there was a modicum of resolution with his family, and also think he would be well within his rights to cut ties entirely.
For sure my favorite in the standalone series thus far.

Historia
I would like to say we were old lovers. That once upon a time he was my everything, and I was his, but that would be a lie. He may have been mine, but I wasn’t his. I was his sister’s annoying little friend who he didn’t even know was in love with him. Years later, after seeing him again for the first time, nothing has changed. Except now, he notices me, and I will do everything in my power to avoid him. Because Falcon is the most conceited man on this planet, and because when he looks at me with steel eyes, my heart still misses a beat.

Conceited
Revisado: 10-25-23
So out of the three standalone books in this series, this one is still better than the first, but not as good as the second. This storyline wasn’t as engaging and felt slightly more far fetched as it pertained to the journalism / Tom storyline. Falcon’s cocky ass was fun and I like Ariel’s snark. I can’t help being a sucker for a man who falls as hard as Falcon did, that unrequited slow burn grew up together stuff gets me every time.

If God created the perfect man he would closely resemble Creed - on the outside, that is. He’s as cavalier as they come. Unconcerned. Cold. Dismissive. I wonder if he has any feelings at all. And when his lips touch mine, everything goes black. He takes me into his world, and it’s the most magical thing I’ve ever experienced. And I’m sucked in time and time again. Like a moth to the flame, I am ready to be set alight.

Cavalier, ehh?
Revisado: 10-11-23
A quick smutty alpha male romance. I liked that Elle is a firecracker herself and gives it right back to Creed. Storyline is ok, little choppy, and spice was fairly spicy in short bursts. I wouldn’t read it again, and I’m not mad that I read it. I’m moving on to the next one now so… can’t be too bad, right?
